In any case, I like the recent Sean Chen issue because it was so cleanly
drawn. I do urge Dan Slott to turn this into a humor book because the book
just isn't very interesting. The rate humor like when Hercules attempted to
rally the Dark Avengers was the highlight of the entire issue. AI
personally wouldn't nominate Henry Pym to be the first "Scientist Supreme"
and I honestly don't comprehend what such role would entail. Would he get
an "Eye of Galileo" that would reveal inner working of most sophisticated
objects?
I also see that Slott is borrowing heavily from Mark Millar's run of
Authority. Jocasta looks like the Engineer. Their headquarter is in another
dimension. Hank Pym's outfit looks like the one the Doctor wore. He swiped
DC's Great Ten for their recent China adventure.
P.S. I don't think Quicksilver knows Spider-Woman enough to call her by her
first name.

I like this book a lot better than any of the other Avengers titles
currently...it actually feels like the Avengers again...I appreciate
that Slott is trying to build up Hank into one of the big guns (though
the "scientist supreme" bit was admittedly taking it too far) and I
generally like the line-up here (though I could do without Amadeus Cho
and USAgent)...I'm just hoping that The Siege (which is supposed to
cause a big shake-up with the Avengers books) will not adversely
affect this book.
I agree that the art sucks, though...that needs to change.

If he is borrowing from the Authority, it's only superficially...I
never even made the connection until you pointed it out...and Jocasta
was around (with this same look) LONG before the Authority came along
or before Mark Millar was even working in comics (and her inclusion
makes perfect sense given Hank's prominence and her connection to
Jan)...and, as for the Great Ten, at least some of these Marvel
characters have been around a long time too...and this is not the
first Asian super team from Marvel.

That one I'll grant you...but I'm just glad someone is trying to
redeem Quicksilver after Bendis and Hine ruined him.
I thought Slott made Quicksilver a liar that claimed to have been kidnapped
by Skrulls and his doppelganger did all the horrible things like getting
Crystal pregnant.
Bad artist (worse than Don Heck?), Quicksilver & Henry Pym..? Starting
to sound like Classic Avengers from 1966 or so!

Quicksilver is lying and claiming to have been replaced by a Skrull
but he's only blaming all that House of M/Son of M/Silent War bullshit
(that never should have been written at all) on the Skrull...it
doesn't go back nearly as far as Luna...and Luna actually called him
on his lies in the latest issue, because her power is to see the
truth...regardless, it's a much better version of Quicksilver than
we've had in a long time...and I would so much rather see him get back
with Crystal than that idiotic Crystal/Ronin thing that's been going
on lately in the cosmic books...it makes absolutely no sense at all.
>Bad artist (worse than Don Heck?)
...Heck was one of those artists who needed a good inker to bring out
the best in his work. Prime example was when they finally printed his
last issue of "Steel" when he became a member of the All-Star
Squadron. The pages got re-inked, and the second go-around make Heck's
pencils practically shine.

...I see the same problem in Pham's "art" that I did with Oliver "Ol'
Scratchy" Coipel when he first started: he had to be blowing *someone*
to get that gig, because it fucking well ain't his artistic talents
that earned it. That and the fact that both of them reportedly work
for a *lot* cheaper than better artists, which seems to be why Marvel
keeps hiring these foreign-based "manga-style" scribblers.

...Except that Quicksilver's been ruined for a long time before Bendis
did his usual character fracking. Ever since he and Crystal split up,
in fact.
Well, yes, and there was a certain charm to a Heck drawn story which
sort of accentuated those issues of the underdog Avengers.
