Someone else suggested that this will be the issue that acknowledges that
Franklin has been using his powers to stay a perrenial child. And the recent
degrading of him with respect to Val will end.

I personally have tired of hearing how great Val is. Perhaps Franklin has
actually been powering up Val's brain as a decoy.

I dunno if you've read the letter column in the most recent issue, but it
sure doesn't sound like editorial plans any changes soon. Else they're
just playing up the present contrast between the two kids to throw the
upcoming change in even sharper relief. But, in a lettercol whose conceit
is that Val and Franklin are answering letters, Franklin non-sequiturs
about eating boogers. Yeesh.

Well, Franklin has been acting suspiciously like Calvin, even if he is a
Son of a genius.
As for Valeria, I only "know"her from Wikipedia (as reliable as that is)
and Cosmic Size Fantastic Four.
There a mention was made of his birthday.

I saw that, I thought it was more lame and awkward rather than
humourous. Ugh.

In that same issue, Val makes the statement that she's already smarter
than her dad. Considering this must be some super power that she has,
I wonder if this is just the start of it and she'll end up growing a
giant head or something. Maybe she'll become as much a threat as
Franklin was and Reed will have to try to shut her down somehow.
Maybe she'll end up going off into space as an evolved specimen like
Adam Warlock.

God, I hope not. In this genre, it would be more unique and
innovative to just let the kid grow up normally for once.

That comment didn't actualy make sense. You don't get "smarter" as you get
older, you do learn more though.

It suggests that Val's intelligence is actually increasing with age, which
is not natural, or normal, or even standard mutant. Franklin has been
depicted as more mature than he is now. Even the funn stuff with Herbie
shows a more grown up Franklin. he seems to have de-aged to about 4.

I am suspicious that this is all somehow tied together. Particular with the
cross-time Reeds, surely there should have been a Val present. Could it be
that there is only one Val in the multiverse?

Even inside the issue, Franklin seemed not to be keeping up with the
action. Either he really is de-aging, or Doctor Doom's arranged to
smuggle Prozac into Franklin's diet.

I suspect the next "Franklin's Birthday" issue is going to take this
de-aging thing head-on.

I like genius Val but I think they may already be carrying it too far
when they start saying she's already smarter than her dad...of course,
that was her own statement so it isn't necessarily fact.

By that logic, there should have been a Doom somewhere in the
mix...there must be realities where he is the good guy and Reed is the
villain...for that matter, there are probably realities where other

ass...but it was a "Council of REEDS," remember? Not just a council
of geniuses...because Marvel has a lot more of those than currently
appear in FF.

There are "Franklin Richards All Grown Up" tales aplenty, and the
longest series of such stories was the Fantastic Five of MC2. The next
longest sequence of such stories was the "Hyperstorm" arcs of the
Fantastiic Fours where Reed was missing in time and Sue marched along in
a uniform that showed off her bikini belly.

grinningdemon once commented that those stories pretty well proved that
the creative cupboards of the FANTASTIC FOUR were bare of good stories
about what happens when Frankie is a grown up. He is right, and so lets
not make a mistae and go down that road.
