Aside from the real loser in "The Crossing" being Marvel (I couldn't resist),
Henry Pym comes out as the number one heel of all. Now we have Pym, who
perhaps being the single character to undergo as much dramatic/mental change
(arguable of course) told that his entire life was a cruel joke perpetrated
by Kang (coolest costume yet). I say Pym is the real loser because rather
than grovel, accept suicide (Avengers West Coast) or whatever, he stuck it
out, changed and was getting his life back together (with Janet/Wasp) and
the hero biz (although I'm real glad they dropped the "here, we can use this
nifty gadget my keen-been insto zappo to get out of this mess...just let me
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzaaaaaaaaaaaaapppppppppppppp it to grand scale schpeal).

Pym came from behind to actually take on an impressive role in AWC. To some
extent, the entire AWC can be related to the molding of his character into
something any Avenger fan could appreciate.

Okay, so there are other losers, Iron Man without comment! I have some
story ideas on how all this can be salvaged, however. Still, I'll sacrifice
Iron Man if it means the end of all those stupid crossovers and a final rest
to shiny overpriced covers (which sends my wife into a fit of rage). Anyway,
with Iron Man gone, War Machine on the ax block (stupid stories do that), and
Spiderman ....well...we won't go there--I can look at all those savings. Heck
with all the money I'll be saving (by not buying comics), I can finish my
Masters! ah, reality, you bite but you're all I have left.

--and War Machine!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!
when are they planning on resolving the issue of Rae LaCoste? last we
saw of her, she was crying into her pillow "oh, Jim," sob, "why didn't you
tell me?" Tell her what??????? And this fade in/out from the timeline
storyline....resolve it already. It sure beats the heck out of "Skye" (and the family stone) and that lame (alah greatest American hero--"hey what does this
do--oh I love/hate this warwear) outfit. Maybe because I have an older
brother, I always enjoyed the relationship between Stark and Rhodes. When
they both had armor, it was like one having to work his way out of the shadow
of the other which went along with the entire brother concept. The stories (early on) weren't bad either. The art 8.5. Ah, marvel...whatever happened?

RAMBLE: and now that we're moving into the tangent zone, what happened to
Veronica Benning---last we saw, she left a note don't come after me and she's out of the script. As a strong female character, I doubt very seriously she
would let Stark's assault on her go unchallenged. Then there's the fellow
with the tubes sticking out of his head and the assistant with the large...eyes...hired to bring down SE. Well????? Venom??? you have 48 hours to prove yourself innocent, Iron Man......well????????Futura california? Did they ever finish
building the city of the future? AAAARRRGGhhhhhh.... Kaminski, whether
you liked him or not, had a good thing going. I long for those days.

Iron Man....best team.... Michelinie (next to O'neil), Bright, Layton, Chiang, Sharen, Gruenwald, Defalco. ***ACTION maybe we should have our own RACMU
Awards for '95 and a best of tribute. Any takers?

well, that's all I have to say about that.

Okay, so I'm forcing myself to re-read the "crossing" slaughterline and I find
some other problems. Didn't catch it the first time but early on...when he's
visiting his parents grave, Stark refers to the 10 years since they died bit.
augh!

I'm confused also by the suggestion that Bethany Cabe is Masque. Not only
is this a ridiculous assertion, it further muddies the water as to the identity
of the "new" Masque (whitney Frost was killed way back in IM #238). So do we
ignore this fact?

AGE OF INNOCENCE indeed!!! The rebirth of IM might better have been AGE OF
IGNORANCE: the final nail in the coffin. Isn't Henry Pym a Biochemist? I'm
a Sociobiologist but you don't see me perfoming complex heart surgery. Point
of order, Mr. Writer. oh! and the big laugh..." take this fellow
weapons--designer
competitor in your own field once--and mob assasisin, Blacklash" never mind
that he's always been written as just short of a clown and with his three
colleagues, boomerang, blizzard and sometimes (before his death) the melter
making
up just short of half a brain. ***one of the best blacklash stories ever
written was of IM and Spiderman teaming up to take him on in his home town.
anyone remember that one?

weakened Controller? weren't they pulling the plug on his life support in
last years IM annual? or the Giant sized or whatever the heck issue it was
(with the really bad art anyway).

and what's with this "what'd I miss?" and wasps "did you miss me?" lines
like these really weaken the conditions these heroes have to go through.

aaarrrrggghhh!!!!

I agree about the Michellinie team,.....However JRjr with John Byrne
was also a good run....He was the only artist to draw Iron Man like a
suit of armor...
