It depends on the model. Mine doesn't. It's also possible that the Goblin
smashed the thing after the conversation just for kicks. Besides, I got
the distinct impression that MJ so strongly suspects his identity by the
end of the movie that she'll be convinced it's true without the answering
machine.

Since the Goblin was just off to kill MJ, he probably wasn't too concerned
about that.
If MJ was in the room at the time, she could have interpreted it as, "Go,
get Spiderman," since Peter had already claimed to know him.
