He was Editor In Chief of "Penthouse Comix", and a man with endless
potential. He was brilliant, tireless, uncompromising, and addicted to
drugs. When I first met him, he was a fundamentalist Christian who
refused to smoke or drink. He also talked about his plans to be a
virgin on his wedding night. The worst thing he'd ever done in those
days was to sneak, uninvited, into Marvel Comic's Christmas Party. Ten
years ago today, he rented a room at the Mariott Hotel, and leaped 45
stories into a busy food lobby. It was a literal miracle than nobody
other than George died. There were whispers at the time that George had
become a Satanist, and I'm sorry to say that I don't entirely
disbelieve those whispers.
George's publications, "Penthouse Comix", "Men's Adventure Comix" and
"Omni Comix" are arguably the best adult comics ever created. If you
have a moment, please remember George. He deserved that much.

Peace,
George
between those two sides of his personality would be a good indicator of
something darker inside.>>>
Trust me, one didn't need a trained eye to detect George's darker side.
NO offense but what does sneaking into a Marvel Christmas Party have
to do with the man changing his attitudes and taking drugs?
Lynley
That was his starting point - it's a sharp contrast to see how far he
fell. At the end, George was taking drugs that Hunter S. Thompson
condemned in "Fear and Loathing in Los Vagas."

Coincidentally, I just picked that issue up at Comic-Con. What did you
think of it? Personally I thought Xavier's mental power up was a little
farfetched. He was doing things (unaided by Cerebro) that we've never
seen before or since (i.e. searching the most intelligent minds on
earth the devise a way to relieve the Fantastic Four of their powers. I
know he's positioned as "the most powerful telepath on earth" but
that's just ridiculous. Other than that, Kurt's characterization was
spot on especially considering the sheer number of characters he used.

I get the idea that this was intended in the vein of "the worst thing
he did was eat a malt ball from the candy bin without paying" or "the
worst thing he did was rip the tags off of his mattresses"...

Very well. I met George back when snuck into Marvel's Christmas party.
I was there throughout his rise, and his decline. I was the one who
spearheaded George getting help when his drug addictiion went out of
control.
Actually, the worst thing he ever did during that time was eat with his
mouth open.

Xavier once linked every mind on the planet to repel the z'nox, and was able
to filter through everyone to remove people who couldn't afford to be
distracted like airline pilots and medical staff in the middle of surgery
etc.
It's a shame. George also wrote for Valiant prior to the creation of
the Valiant Universe, most notably CAPTAIN N: THE GAME MASTER for their
Nintendo Comics System line. Very good writer.

George would have been very happy if he knew he would be remembered as
a very good writer.
