About 2 weeks ago or so I posted a negative remark about Gerry Ross in Lake
Champlain, or is it Montreal, and the fact my order had not arrived. It did on
Saturday. After so many weeks, and numerous supporting comments from readers, I
am not sure my position on this seller has changed. The book arrived well
packaged and definitely from Canada. The grade was touted as being NM+ but what
I got was more like solid VF if you factor in the spine stresses, various minor
dings and creases. Book gloss was normal for a bronze age book. I'm glad the
ordeal of waiting is over but I cannot recommend this seller to anyone! He even
included several pages of books for sale, though he must know I will never
order again. Thank you to those fellow collectors and sellers who provided
feedback and support. MO

I have also attempted to have dealings with Gerry Ross and he ends up in name
calling and false accusations. I have heard from many many big time dealers
that he overgrades books like anything. Which is why the price of the book
seems to be a good price. But just remember...if the price is too good to be
true, it probably is. Stay away from 1,000,000 comics!

I'm still waiting for replacement books for the many books I had to
return due to what I thought was overgrading. I'm sorry, but a VF/NM
book does not have extensive moisture damage to the cover under any
standards. It's been more than 3 weeks since I sent the books back to
their NY warehouse despite living in the same state. Called them up at
their main office on my own dime (actually, should be "dimes" and plenty
of them) only to find out that they have no record from the warehouse of
the books being returned and would have to call them to check. I'm
still waiting for a return call for some word on the status of the
books. Good thing I bought postal insurance. 1,000,000 Comix boasts
about CBG customer service awards, tight grading (they state on their
website that they don't assign NM grades and it's uncommon that they
assign grades over Fine), and other wonderful claims. But their actions
(and lack thereof) speak louder than their words. And don't get me
started on how they turned a mere inquiry about two books into an actual
shipped order without getting confirmation from me first.

I had a dealing with 1,000,000 Comics several years back that was
really bad and as a result I will never deal with them again. I do
not think it was Gerry Ross but the business is definitely the same.
They sent me some ASM books from the mid 70's that they advertised as
NM. When the books arrived they were anything but NM. There were
creases, spine stress, moisture, etc. The average grade of what they
sent me was probably f+. I spent (and spent $) a lot of time on the
phone trying to work things out with those people to get a refund or
credit. Their assertion was that since the books had never been read
that they were therefore NM. I went around and around with them on
that one. Beware of their "Fire Damage Sale! All Books NM!" add that
they could run on that reasoning.
The issue was not resolved with them so I took it to Marvel. At
the time they were advertising heavily in Marvel books as the "Biggest
Marvel Supplier" or some such nonsense. I spoke with Rita
Smolenski(sp?) about the whole affair. She is/was some sort of
advertising guru there. I told her that they needed to hold their
advertisers responsible for their advertising or that I would hold
Marvel responsible for their advertisers. The result? She sent me a
whole bunch of free stuff and 1,000,000's advertising disappeared from
Marvel books for almost a year.
I generally post my experience with 1,000,000 everytime I see
someone mention them in a post. My advice to anyone that is thinking
of doing business with them is just to stay away and do business with
a more reputable dealer. It's just not worth the risk and hassle.

Just my 2 cents,
Rob Nickeson
