Will Eisner’s THE SPIRIT Portfolio Published in 1977 by Collectors’ Press,
this portfolio is indeed a labor of love and is of the highest quality,
production-wise. The living legend, Will Eisner, creator of THE SPIRIT,
created ten new paintings depicting his most famous creation for this
portfolio. In addition to the ten full color plates, there is an eleventh
black & white plate showing roughs for one of the plates PLUS a full color
page containing several color photos of Eisner at work and a forward to the
portfolio written by him. And if that wasn’t enough, there is a Certificate
of Authenticity signed by the publisher and everything is housed in a
hardcover folder with endpapers illustrated with yet two more B/W roughs for
finished paintings inside. Signed and numbered edition of 1500, of which this
is #159. Eisner has signed Plate One. The folder is stamped in gold with an
illustration by Eisner. All in all a great package!!! All plates are 12" x
16" in size and printed on the finest strathmore papers to present prints
that are as close as possible to the original paintings. Portfolio plates are
all in Mint condition. The hardcover folder is in Very Good shape except for
some minor wear to spine due to its being stored in a tight cardboard mailer
for years. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=68420293
The National Cartoonist Society Portfolio Volume One Amazing portfolio
featuring the cream of comics and comic strip artists! Published in 1978 by
Collectors Press, this portfolio, the first of two, contains work by the
following artists: Will (SPIRIT) Eisner, John (AMERICAN EAGLE) Severin, Jerry
(BATMAN & ROBIN) Robinson, Wally Wood, Russell (BROOM HILDA) Meyers, Al
(FLASH GORDON) Williamson, Jeff Jones, Harvey Kurtzman, Jim (CHANDLER)
Steranko, Johnny (B.C.) Hart, Jack (CAPTAIN AMERICA) Kirby, Milton (STEVE
CANYON) Caniff), Barry Windsor-Smith and Burne Hogarth. A mind-boggling
line-up and moreso when you consider that every single plate is also signed
by the artist!!! A total of 14 Black & White plates, all 12" x 16" in size.
Signed and numbered edition of 1500, of which this is #87. Housed in a
cardstock folder illustrated with a gold-stamped illustration of Merlin by
Hal Foster along with the title. This portfolio is in Mint condition and only
serious offers will be considered because its that good!!!!

The National Cartoonist Society Portfolio Volume Two Released within a year
or so of the first volume, probably 1980, this portfolio also features an
amazing array of comic book and strip artists. Published by Collectors Press,
this portfolio, the second of two, contains work by the following artists:
George Evans, Mike Kaluta, Berni Wrightson, Jack Davis, Neal (TARZAN) Adams,
Gil (STAR HAWKS) Kane, Selby (POGO) Kelly, Wally Wood (B/W repro of 50s
painting - unsigned), Will (SPIRIT) Eisner (unsigned), Burne Hogarth
(unsigned), Harvey Kurtzman (unsigned), Al Williamson (unsigned), Frank
Frazetta (color rough for Gauntlet movie poster - unsigned), Hal Foster
(this is unsigned but stamped with Foster’s own seal) and Hal Foster (same
piece, but in full color, unsigned). As you can see from the description,
this volume is a mix of signed and unsigned plates. Despite some of the same
artists names being duplicated above, the plates are entirely different
pieces. A lot of exceptional artwork is reproduced here!!! Dated on plates
range from 1978 to 1980, obviously some of them were slated for the first
volume and didn’t make it in there for some reason. A total of 15Black &
White plates, all 12" x 16" in size. Signed and numbered edition of 1500, of
which this is #87. Housed in a cardstock folder illustrated with a
gold-stamped illustration of the Hogarth plate along with the title. This
portfolio is in Mint condition and only serious offers will be considered for
it. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=68423285
ABYSS PORTFOLIO By The Studio The Studio consisted of some of the finest
talent of the 1970s: Berni Wrightson, Mike Kaluta, Jeff Jones and Bruce Jones
(no relation). In order to raise money for ABYSS, a magazine-format showcase
of their work, they produced this portfolio around 1970-72 containing a large
14-1/4" x 21" B&W plate by each of them. The work is early, very detailed and
just plain wonderful! This portfolio was limited to 500 signed and numbered
copies and this is #35. Each plate is signed by the artist. The plates are in
Near Mint condition if not better. There was no real folder, the plates were
given out in a paper folder rubber-stamped with the portfolio’s name, ABYSS:
A Promotional Portfolio, on it, a real homemade job. The folder is in Good at
best shape with several tears but the whole thing is complete. This is what I
would call a rare item unlike a lot of those so called eBay rarities.
