I'm considering try to sell some of my comics-related items to free up
more closet space. I'm not sure what value, if any, these would have
since they are not listed in any guide like Overstreet's. The
type of items I'm talking about are

back issues of Amazing Heroes (1-14)
back issues of The Comics Journal
FOOM
Legion Outpost
Squa Tront
Preview (or is it Prevue) magazine
Index to Marvel Comics (the ones put out in the 1970's by George
Olshevsky (sp?) )

Is there a market or interest in any of these things? Is there a guide
like Overstreet's which would list these? Thanks.

Hi, Greg.
I can help with some of the items you list. As far as I know, there is no
Guide available for fanzines. I sell a lot of them and guage my prices by
the marketplace. i.e. if I offer an issue of Squa Tront #2 for sale at $20
and get 7 orders, then the next copy I get is priced higher.

My business is Bud Plant Illustrated Books and we carry lots of comic-type
material (BUT NO COMIC BOOKS), as well as much older books from the turn-
of-the-century. Our comic-related material is a large portion of our sales
and we have sold issues of FOOM, Squa Tront and the Marvel Indexes (you did
spell Olshevsky correct!).

Our policy on buying material is that we have to see the items to make an
offer, and our offers are based on 40% of our selling prices. We publish
a catalog which I'd be happy to send you so you could get an idea of our
prices. You're going to want to know approximately what range we price
things at to see if 40% of that price is enticing to you. Then you'd have
to call or write us so we can decide which books we're interested in buying.

Next step is for you to send us the books (we pay half your postage) and we'll
price them and call you with an offer.

If this sounds fair to you (and we've bought collections from the likes of John
Pound, Kenneth Smith, etc. on these terms), write me at:
Bud Plant Illustrated Books
c/o Jim Vadeboncoeur, Jr.
3809-N Laguna Ave.
Palo Alto, CA 94306
or call me evenings (after 5:30) or weekends (9:30AM - 10PM) at
415-493-1191

My interest from your list would include the FOOMs, Squa Tronts and the
Marvel Indexes. I've had no requests for any of the other material and do
not know if there is a market for it.

Peace,
Jim (|:{>
