This is appearing soon in the US . I e-mailed
Mai...@discovery-europe.com to see if there were plans to show it
over here . They replied " Unfortunately, we have no plans to show
this programme in the immediate future. However, we will forward your
request to the appropriate department for their consideration "

So if anyone else fancies seeing it perhaps an odd e-mail or two might
help.

TRAVEL CHANNEL TO AIR MARVEL GUIDE TO NYC

As reported in CBG #1567, cable television's Travel Channel has put
together an HDTV hour devoted to comic books.

Travel Channel describes its Marvel Super Heroes' Guide to New York
City, "Since the 1930s, New York City has been the home of comics and
their creators. Follow the thrilling exploits of Spider-Man and his
comic book cohorts while revealing the real-life New York landmarks
that inspired their stories."

Discovery Channel Creative Executive Karen Kraft has a lifelong love
of comic books and, thanks to the enthusiasm and inspiration of Travel
Channel General Manager Rick Rodriguez, developed with co-producer and
co-writer Molly Hermann a project for the Travel Channel that will
provide the public with a new approach to viewing of the city -- and
the art form. The project is the result of extensive High-Definition
TV taping in the city at the end of last year.

Attendees at the Friday, July 23, Travel Channel panel at Comic-Con
International: San Diego saw a sampling of scenes from the special and
heard a discussion by CBG's Maggie Thompson, Rodriguez, Kraft,
Hermann, Stan Lee, Roy Thomas, Joe Quesada, and Michael Uslan. The
last four all appear on the show, along with other celebrities, taking
viewers behind the New York City comics scene.

The show will air Sunday, Aug. 15, at 8 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time,
with a repeat at 11 p.m. (Hint: Unusually good ratings for this sort
of show can lead to more cable coverage of this type of material.)
