Enjoyed the Preacher special, but I have one question: What is reflected
in Cassidy's sunglasses on the cover? It looks like the back of a
head, a balcony, and maybe a TV set. Significance?

My only disappointments with the story were...

I was hoping that we would finally get Cassidy's ambiguous sexual past
sorted out. And I was REALLY hoping that we would learn that the
"origin" story he told Jesse was Not Quite The Whole Truth.

Also, the ending seemed rushed. I liked Cassidy bringing the Lestat
wannabe back into the real world, and thought the sudden shift in that
character's personality (to bloodthirsty viciousness) was rather...
abrupt.

How about the cover being what happens next after the final page ?

Did anyone notice that the bartender looked a LOT like Tulip? Cass has
obviously had a thing for willowy blondes with full lips for some time.

This episode took place right before he went to Texas? Hypothetical:
Maybe that WAS Tulip. That being the case, why would she be such a
bitch toward him now?

Of course, it wasn't Tulip. The resemblance is more likely a product of
Dillon's inability to draw his "normal" people with enough
distinguishing characteristics to look significantly dissimilar. It
wouldn't be the first time I've gotten the players confused based on
looks alone. If it wasn't for Garth's witty writing, I'd have dumped
the book awhile ago, like I (unfortunately) had to with Hellblazer.

I think you got the point, but then missed it. The point: Cassidy might
have a thing for willowy blondes. Therefore, of course Dillon drew her
to look like Tulip.

Nothing like bludgeoning us over the head to make his point. It's the
artist's version of "nudge, nudge, wink-wink". I guess he thinks the
general readership is too thick to notice a connection between types of
women unless he gives them all the same face.

I though the bartender was the blonde with the eyepatch who
wanted Cassidy dead... maybe I should be rereading this series
every so often to keep up on what I'm forgetting between issues.

I thought the blond in question was
supposed to be Dee.

I went back and read the last PREACHER arc right after this to see how
much of it explained the stuff from the regular series, and the answer is:
not much.

It's strongly implied in CASSIDY that this is Cass's first time in New
Orleans, which means that either:

a) The backstory with Cass's voodoo-practitioning friend, whose name escapes
me, and the woman with the eyepatch happened not in New Orleans, or

b) Cass goes back to New Orleans after CASSIDY, and hence it's not set
just before PREACHER.

It does make the Enfants du Sang bit of the arc work better, but I was
a bit disappointed not to get more hints on other things.

Cheers,
Paul

I thought it was blindingly obvious that the woman with the eyepatch was the
young bartender at the end of Blood and Whiskey. I recognized her immediately,
within maybe 3 seconds. Dillon is so great.

I suspected it, but wasn't sure, because Dillon draws most of his women so

c) Cass hangs around for a bit, and the voodoo and eyepatch stuff happen
during this visit, but after the story. (Which is sort of like b, but not
quite.)

The story does explain why Cassidy didn't bother to warn Jesse and Tulip
about Les Infants. They just don't look like any sort of threat.
