The problem with TEMPEST being monthly is, who could do the pencilling
besides Phil Jimenez? I can't picture too many folks having that kind of
ability, his tremendous eye for detail, and being able to crank it out
monthly. And Phil will be busy on INVISIBLES, so *he* can't do it.
As far as I know, plans at the moment-- or at least Phil's *hopes*-- lie
along the lines of more miniseries. I've heard a rumor he was thinking of
one involving Garth and Dick Grayson.

Really, really, really? Okay I'll start salivating, and drooling right now!
OH boy oh boy oh boy!!!

P.S. I said wingnuts were and unstable bunch didn't I? Well maybe the
problem is that I am unstable and I am a wingnut. So let's see how
many sillogisms can I construct:
All wingnuts are unstable. Carolina is unstable therefore she is a wingnut.
All wingnuts are unstable. Carolina is a wingnut therefore she is unstable.
All unstable people are wingnuts. Carolina is a wingnut...
well you get the idea....
they are all false of course. The sillogisms that is, not the part about
being unstable and a wingnut :)
Why not use George Perez?
After all, that's why i bought Tempest #1, i thought it was Perez
doing the artwork...

Wow! Now THAT would be both interesting and a retcon! Oh. You meant as
a team. Sorry.

MONTHLY, Martin. I highly doubt, especially with his embellishing work on
TITANS, that Perez would want to tie himself to another monthly schedule.
Er, what is Donna Troy now? Anyway, all three of 'em, Arsenal and Flash
can get together for a REAL Teen Titans reunion...
(ed's note: don't ask, you don't want to know...)

Actually, a syllogism is correct as long as it follows the proper
pattern, which the second one does, and as long as it is *not* the case
that all premises are true and the conclusion is false. In this case:
Premise: All Wingnuts are unstable. I'd say true, but I haven't done a
survey, and at this time have a small statistical group to call upon.
Premise: Carolina is a Wingnut. Umm, yeah, true.
Conclusion: Carolina is unstable. As a friend..... yes, absolutely
true. Thus, the syllogism is true.
'Scuse me, must run away.

Actually, the second is true, unless you're denying the

I have been hoping for that for a long time. I think it could be
a great book! It doesn't have to be a monthly it could be a quarterly
book like Batman Chronicles and it could focus on their friendships
and either talk about past adventures or being caught in new ones.
I would put the SO's in the book too, and it could have a very different
feel than any other team book out there.... It could have a rotating
roster of writers and artists and it could tie in with all the
ongoing series involving Titans (Flash, Nightwing, uggh GL, a
Tempest monthly if it ever comes to pass). But what I would really like
would be a new book with Donna Troy and Roy Harper as lead characters.
Starting a business together and trying to get their lives and
their children back and rekindling their old relationship... I think
they are such a perfect match.

Why not? At one point he was drawing Avengers, Fantastic Four

Seriously, i'd rather see Perez on Tempest then on the fake Titans.
Jimenez and Perez could each draw every second issue and nobody would
notice...

Ah...but if, as Phil's mentioned, that TPTB want to do a second miniseries
prior to an ongoing, perhaps George might be available to do the mini. If a second
mini doesn't come out on the stands for another six months (Phil's projected time),
and runs four issues, that would pretty much run through the year contract
that Phil has on INVISIBLES (he's currently working on his 3rd issue).
Allowing for perhaps a few month gap between the end of a second mini
and the start of an ongoing, that would allow Phil to take over the chores
on an ongoing. If TPTB would want to launch an ongoing directly after
the end of a second mini, there might be a need to have another artist,
oh, say, George, field the first few issues until Phil's available again.
Or (oh, and man would I love this).....Nick Cardy for the art chores
on a mini.

If it's a MINI, Leah, why couldn't Phil do it himself? If Phil's main
obstacle is in the nature of a time constraint, and a mini would
presumably allow an artist to work at his/her own pace, I don't see why
Phil couldn't just write and pencil another mini himself.

But would he be able to do a mini *and* INVISIBLES?, is the question. I
don't know how fast he works, but as blown away by the detail as I am I
would assume it takes him awhile to get all that in there.
(Then again, I consider Byrne incredibly detailed-- y'all should see the

takes a scant *two hours* to pencil a page.)

Well, personally, I think he's getting a bit ahead of himself. How is the
current mini doing sales-wise? And what does the editor think of these
particular plans? After all, it comes down to the editor and the suits.

She is right now, most unfortunately, GL, Kyle Rayner's girlfriend. The
relationship has taken a serious turn and Kyle will be meeting Donna'
son very soon. In the process of appearing in GL Donna has apparently
forgotten who she really is, because the woman appearing there is not
Donna. She seems to have forogotten she had a profession (photographer)
and is now powerless (since she gave up being a Darkstar). John Byrne
has plans to make her a supporting character in Wonder Woman, and give
her new powers. Her code name supposedly will be Dark Angel (bleach...).
It is really something to behold how DC has destroyed what used to be
one of the most powerful female characters around....

I don't think TPTB want to wait *very* long for a second mini to come out.
Phil himself doesn't feel he could handle both things simultaneously for any
prolonged period of time.
I think your comments below regarding Phil doing another mini and Invisibles
answers that question rather well...and is the issue at hand.

I don't have the exact numbers, but sales on the mini are apparently good.
Many retailers are reporting having to re order and are increasing their
orders issue by issue. Word of mouth has been very good, and according
to Phil, at least, TPTB are very pleased with the entire project.
Eddie and Phil have been working very closely together on the plotting
plans for both a second mini and an ongoing, so I can only assume that
Eddie's in approval and supportive of all of this.
Part of this is my own conjecture on the timeframes involved. All Phil has
particularly mentioned is that it would take about another six months to get
a second mini out and published (assuming that the entire 4 issues would
be pretty much done before issue #1 of a second mini series comes out)

Seriously, that's been said before, and in a way, I don't want to ink it. In this
respect, I'm a fan and inking the book would mean I'd know what it's about
waaay before hand and I'd have no surprises as a reader and a fangirl <G>.
If the offer came, OTOH, I don't think I'd turn it down, because it would not
only be fun, but a wonderful opportunity as well. But in this particular
instance, I'm really torn about it (not like it would seriously ever happen, but
I'm still torn, y'understand.....I'm allowed to have 'imaginary angst' about it <G>)
I would give just about anything to see Cardy draw a second mini, though. *sigh*
*le major sigh*. <G>
An Aparo or Aparo/Giordano combination would also make me content.

Have they yet addressed how they plan to handle Donna being a
supporting cast member in two books, set on opposite sides of
the continent? I can't believe we have to choose between
Marz' GL and Byrne's WW for a permanent home for Donna (maybe
she could join Night Force. :) )

Phil's not interested in pursuing any of the other lesser used Titans? I
enjoyed his run in Team Titans. He drew Terra's earth chunks very
beautifully and with great attention to detail. I've love to see him draw
Terra again just so we can see some more rocks!

I don't mind her being depowered, but I can't stand her attitude, "I'm so
useless without my powers." as pictured in GL. She was de-powered for
awhile in Team Titans, but she was still pictured as a strong and
independent person there. (Who was more than capable of being able to take
care of herself...) All she does now is whine and hang out in the
apartment waiting for Kyle to come home.
And I thought Terry took her son and ran off. Donna isn't supposed to
know where Terry or her son is and she in the Final Night story, she "went
off to visit him." Do your homework, Ron & GL editors! I suppose it would
have been believable for Terry to call her, but she was acting as if they
had some sort of custody arrangement or something. (And Terry got full
custody if I'm not mistaken...)
Dwayne
Any word on whether Donna will continue to be powerless when she begins
appearing in Wonder Woman or will the Titans of Myth change their mind
and return her powers?

How long ago was this? I'm sorry, maybe the memory of the strain he was

This sounds like a lovely solution, actually. Trading off issues between
Jimenez and Perez. I really like this.
I agree about the "de-powered" Donna in GL being a little TOO insecure.
They really need to establish that she HAS a life: a professional career
and friends...
