So, in the interest of getting more discussion going, and also having a place to
put my silly thoughts about writing: What band or artist would do the theme song
for your series?

A few examples I've thought of from stuff I've written: Digital JUMP! would of
course be Megumi Hayashibara - gotta get that '90s anime sound. Looniverse
Chronicles would be some kind of sweeping epic-feeling '90s-y instrumental.
Maybe Jerry Goldsmith or Joseph DeLuca? WikiLull would be Weird Al Yankovic in
full Silly Mode, and WikiLull After would be some demented combination of Rush,
Nine Inch Nails, and Sister MAYO. Finally, The Terrific Visage would be JAM
Project - I'd love to see their brand of super-hot-blooded shonen action applied
to a slice-of-life about a small sweet girl and the AI in her head.

I've mentioned, my characters actually have theme songs already.
("Theme Music", Sat, 8 Sep 2012 18:42:24 +0000 UTC!) But you asked
(more or less) what bands should *perform* them nowadays. So that's a
new question.

* The theme song for Ellipsis comes from Steve Hackett, former
guitarist for Genesis. "Please Don't Touch". To cover that, well, I
went to see the up-and-coming rock band All Them Witches in concert last
weekend. I would trust them to try. http://www.allthemwitches.org/

- For bonus points, there is actually a song "My Name is Ellipsis".
The lyrics are basically the same as the title. Pere Ubu put a long
version of that song on a CD once. If "DJ Ellipsis" were in the
story... oh, crap, it seems there is now a musical group "My Name is
Ellipsis"! https://mniemusic.bandcamp.com/

* The theme song for Wyatt Ferguson comes from the Blue Oyster Cult.
"Shadow Warrior". Most anyone could cover that. I would invite The
Decembrists. http://www.decemberists.com/

* The theme song for the Powernaut is "It's Time for Fun with
Powernaut", to the tune of the old campfire song "Three Jolly
Fishermen". They Might Be Giants could obviously do that, and have fun
with it. Failing that, the modern ensemble Big World Audio Theatre
could nail it. http://www.ssbungalow.com/

* And then there's Psychovant. I have yet to decide what his theme
song will be. No, not that song he blasted during the RACCies.
Probably something by Alice Cooper or Metallica. Since those artists
are still around, I would probably invite them to step in and invent
something. Hey, we can always dream.

Ultimate Mercenary: Probably Maximum the Hormone, of Death Note fame,
for that mid-2000s sense of unfocused young masculine anger but with a
sense of OTT absurdity and fun.

The Liminals: Definitely synthpop or new wave of some kind. (Which is
most of what i listen to when I write it.) Maybe Depeche Mode? Talking
Heads is stylistically right but not quite gay enough, while Duran
Duran is not self aware enough.

For LNH20 Comics Presents and other LNH20, probably Daft Punk, in a
mix of Tron Legacy soundtrack mode and retro-funk mode.

For my classic LNH work, of course, They Might Be Giants.

*listens to some* Wow. XD Yes, it definitely hits all of those. Very appropriate.

Ooooh! Maybe... the Pet Shop Boys? Soft Cell?

(Speaking of, I realized that Writer's Block Person would have a theme by
Erasure. The *gayest* synthpop. :D And the least self-aware.)

Oooooh, nice. :3 That captures a lot of that feel.

I was trying to think of a theme for the Spoon of Destiny Saga itself...
something that represents that powerful, chaotic sense of creation... Mozart
collaborating with Great Big Sea. Yes.

> For my classic LNH work, of course, They Might Be Giants.

:3 Naturally! <3 I think FLASH! would have a TMBG theme, since it represents all
of the LNH, and that's the LNH-iest band.

Wow. That's *extremely* prog rock. XD Which really does feel appropriate for
Ellipsis - huge, portentous, self-important but not for no reason.

Crap, I'm having a hard time finding the song because of the band. XD

Oh man. That'd be a *hell* of a combination.

Fascinating. X3 And rather adorable?

That seems extremely appropriate. :> Like, SUPER HARDCORE but in a way that's
kind of silly.

Indeed. And no talking on the stage. Or if there is, it mostly doesn't
matter.

I did things the hard way. I bought the CD twenty years ago, and I
bought the band last night!

Indeed. Either one of those combining with *anything*, would be news.

Oh, definitely adorable. In my universe, Big World Audio Theatre would
be as though Saint Nicholas had to narrate every single publication.

heh, did you hear about the time Alice Cooper got pulled into a Guns and
Roses recording session one night? Or the time that representatives
from five progressive 1990s bands plus one from Lynyrd Skynyrd did a
cover song, led by the entire membership of Metallica? "Kind of silly"
is an obstacle I had not even considered - the same way I do not
consider some forms of yard waste. 8{D>

Pet Shop Boys makes sense because it makes me think of
Gillen/McKelvie--Kieron Gillen said they're "the pet shop boys of
comics." The shadow of their work is very long in this series, which
is especially noticeable in #2, drawing on WicDiv and Phonogram as
well as Morrison's interpretation of the New Gods. Liminals is
definitely part of the British superhero comics tradition of Moore,
Morrison, Gillen, and Paul Hardy's Legion of Occult Heroes as well.
Thought it's also pretty anime. (Which makes it kind of like
Claremont/Sienkiewicz New Mutants as well.)

Intense stylization meets intense stylization!

I was considering it not an obstacle, but a commendation. :>

That particular combination seems very LNH. I mean, LOH itself was deeply
invested in anime fandom. :> (IT'S TOTORO)
