News Release

Eric Theriault Press launches two new books .

Montreal, Canada, September 27, 2001:

This December , Eric Theriault Press will be launching two new books: the
first is Veena, the expanding spiral, the company's main title and the
second is Flirt, sensual, wild and sexy pinups! As you may know, Veena is
Eric's showcase for his various short stories. In it you will find five
story, the main one being "The expanding spiral". Here is how it is
described in this month's Preview (available since september 26):

"What would you do if you found a beautiful girl genie, and she gave you
only one wish? Trick her into giving you more of course! What about reliving
your own life from the hard teenage years on? What about erasing all the
regrets you have carried with you your whole life? Of course! Why not? That'
s what Victor could do, and did; forever. And then, he met Veena. The
Expanding Spiral is the main story of this collection. The different pieces
in the book range from the sci-fi of John Star and his retro-futurist world
to more realistic visions of the future; and the present. Eric Theriault's
world mixes kitsch fantastic and slice-of-life realism in a manner which
enhances both."

Also in Veena: -Cold Fluid: What if the 1950's EC Comics had dome some super
hero comic? You would have seen how the well known American Supersoldier is
in fact closely related to the Frankenstein monster.. how his strangely
aryan features were made from the same cold laboratory and why the whole
idea of superhero is so monstruous! -Coup d'Etat: A story done before the
recent events of september 11 but very actual: You could lose your civil
liberties and never have known about it. -Broken Lines: A dream illustrated
originally for Flock of Dreamers, an anthology about dreams with works from
Robert Crumb, Sograf, Veitch, Woodring and others. -John Star is back, yes,
that 3 panels unending story get expanded over a few pages. See the
underside of a Flash Gordon-type universe. And a few more things... To see
more about the book, visit our website where you'll be able to view the
cover and various pages from the book.

Flirt, sensual, wild and sexy pinups!

What is Flirt?
Flirt is a good girl art book showcasing the work of 58 artists from many
places around the world, including Canada, the United States, Turkey, Egypt,
Finland and Madagascar. Flirt is a unique combination of styles and points
of view. We take you from realism to abstraction, with a side trip in the
underground. Some artists chose to criticize the objectification of women,
others preferred to pay homage to woman's beauty, and some played it with
humor. Many of the artists in Flirt are well-known to lovers of comics and
art: Cover by Denis Rodier (Action Comic / DC), Leonard Kirk (Super Girl /
DC), Li-An (Planète Lointaine / Delcourt), Mack White (Zero Zero /
Fantagraphic), Mike Wolfer ( Warren Ellis's Strange Kiss / Avatar Press),
Louis Lachance (Elvira / Clay Pool), Michel Lacombe (Onigami / Antarctic
Press), Gabriel Morrissette (Rag-man/ Dc), Jacques Boivin (Melody / Eros),
Eric Braün (106U, a book we distributed last year), Yanick Paquette (Code
