I haven't been to Fry's for quite a few years, but I see that things
haven't changed much. They still have that excellent customer service.
Clearly she was happy because you didn't need her to do her job.
I once brought in my VCR for a repair. The guy behind the counter said
they'd call me within 2 days to let me know how long it would take to
fix it. A week passed by, no call. Finally, I called them. I got some
teenager who sounded about 14. When I asked him what was happening with
my VCR, he just said, "I dunno". Nothing else. He was oozing apathy. I
wasn't sure I'd ever get it back. (I did, eventually - it took them
about 2 months, and many phone calls from me.)
Unfortunately, I had made the mistake of buying the VCR from them,
so I had to bring it to them for repairs unless I wanted to pay for
it. Never again, though!
I tried going there a couple of times after that (for unrelated
purchases). Just before going into the store, I would say to myself,
"I'm not going to get angry. I'm not going to lose my temper," and
then I'd go in. Within 5 minutes, it seemed, I'd be yelling at
someone. They're just so incompetent. They do things in a way that
seem like they want to aggravate the customer as much as possible.
There is no other store anywhere that annoys me more, so I just don't
shop there anymore. Not worth it. The Dalai Lama would lose his
temper with those people!
