No Web-based system for me, and nothing run by Google.

I see two Gandalfs and church bell. And two half lions chasing
a bull rat each over the lake. (Rorschach tests seen by "Illogic")
I agree.

That definitely looks interesting -- I like the idea of
collaborative editing.
I am concerned that one can edit other people's texts, their
'blips,' and even if it appears that it supports threading, it would
require a great deal of discipline by the contributors (and possibly
also its own kind of netiquette). For me, personally, I wouldn't
like the direct, key-by-key, mode -- in many cases I can take days
to compose an answer to an interesting post (in this case it is only
a few hours since I pressed 'reply').
At first glance I think I'd very much like to try this out, but I
think that I'd prefer to use it with some control of whom can edit
my posts -- I think one of the reasons why usenet works is that the
individual message is inviolate; even if some people will misquote
you, the original message is always there for all to see (even if
you use the X-No-Archive header there is usually some private
archive that has the message).
Overall I think that Google Wave looks very promising, and I will
definitely try it out once it opens up to the public, but I don't
think that it is a place that invites to the kind of openness and
inclusiveness that we have in usenet -- I would see it rather as a
medium where a group, smaller or greater, could retreat to work out
some kind of common understanding. as such it might be a really fine
addition to our discussions here.

Excellent! Everybody, look closely at the Google logo in that
article, and you'll see how subtly they're trying to tempt us over.

And now the page cannot be displayed, which suggests that it has
become invisible. Very sneaky, indeed.

About Google Wave:

I now have a Google Wave account, and I think it might be a good thing
for many purposes, but as with any other platform, there will be first
a time of chaos as everybody learns the tricks. Then a new . . .
wavetiqette? . . . will emerge and there will be a time of great
productivity and progress. Then the spammers will kick in and public
waves will degenerate . . .
Still, I think Google Wave can be a good supplement to other fora (and
I've already had occasion to mention AFT and RABT at least once ;-)

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no
basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power

I have a Google Wave account too. Not enough contacts however.
