I've been trying to remember who Bilbo Baggins got the ring from in The
Hobbit I haven't read the book in years. I plan on going to the library
today and check it out but in case I don't get the far will someone save
my sanity and tell me who it was? It's been driving me nuts! Even if
I've got it all wrong please tell me. Thanks

He found it in the tunnels under the Misty Mountains. It's previous owner
was Gollum.

You have to rememder the riddle game, and how Bilbo "borrowed" the ring
from Gollum.

Bilbo just picked the Ring up (in the goblin caves under the
Misty Mountains) after Gollum (who had previously owned the
Ring) had dropped it.

Thank you to everyone that took the time to answer my question. I did
borrow the book but haven't been able to read it yet, it seems The
Hobbit is on my sons list of books to read for extra credit in language
arts maybe if I'm lucky he won't take it to school with him.......
