reception room & in the Senate Chamber of the State Capitol at Harrisburg,
PA; original stencil leather boards with lots of scratches, ware to
corners; 2 metal clasps; new leather spine; pages have normal aging &
browning; plates in good condition. The pages of the original manuscript
have been written and illuminated by Oakley from her notes made in
preparation for the paintings from 1902 to 1922. They are reproduced from
plates made by the Beck Engraving Com; printed privately in Philadelphia
and issued to subscriber; printed upon San Marco Paper from Italy.

A pioneer of American nonobjective painting, sometimes called
"metaphysical constructivist", she was a founder and teacher in the
Federal Art Project Designe Laboratory in N.Y.C.; she was in the Fourteen
Americans exhibition at the Mus. Of Modern Art in 1946. She was the wife
of the poet/publisher George Reavy, and she is represented in the Whitney

to be a substitute for a different kind of magazine... "to bring art in

published). 6 issues, consisting of boxed portfolio albums of multiples
especially created for each number; with 10 or more items in each box, all
contents loose as issued. 4to.; publisher's dec. printed folders within
printed white cardboard shipping cartons; tables for each issue make it
possible to collate the diverse contents precisely; excellent condition.

1874-1880. Depicts the girls school at Saint-Denis during 1878-1880 with
15 mounted photographs; school constitued in 1791; 18 sheets of Bristol
board followed by 14 documents, letters, permits all related to the school
for daughters of members of the Legion of Honor; a portrait of Napoleon by
Hopwood; oblong small folio; 3/4 blue morocco gilt back; rubbing to boards
otherwise in fine state of preservation.
The school was instituted by Nepoleon in 1809 in the former Abbey of St.
DEnis next to the Basilica. Two birds' views of the complex. Photographs
provide views of the building, the grounds, scenes with the pupils on
their promenade, classes of 1877 & 1881, the Director(Madame la
Superintendante) and her council of 7 ladies. Documents & certificates
relate to one of the students & her family from 1874-1891.
