I've published two historical novels taking place in the fifth century, near and in the late Roman Empire. They are: Attila as Told to His Scribes, and I, Zerco. Both are in the form of autobiographies. Attila is, of course, well known; Zerco was a contemporary, described briefly in an account of Attila's court. Here are the links:

Both were the result of considerable research, not only into the (scanty) sources on the Huns and Attila's life beyond his famous career, but also into the legends, stories and fairy tales told about him. The same goes for Zerco, although there appeared to be even less about "Moors" during this period, and rather more about bestiarii and the stupidus.
