Does anyone remember a children's book... from the early 70's, maybe
even before, about a doll with long blond hair playing dress up with some
teddy bears, in an old house or attic, I think. There were all b & w
photographs of the doll & bears (no illustrations), in a large sized
hardcover book. I don't remember the story.

Yes! but I'm not going to be of any help. I can't remember anything else
much about it, although it seems to me the doll bossed the teddies around
some, and i found it very eerie to see photographs...

That sounds like 'Edith and the Bears' by Dare Wright. Copies might be
found on ABE or Bibliofind, but be prepared to pay!

It sounds like a book by Dare Wright. Her picture books use b/w photos,
and it seems to me that one of her titles was on the order of The Doll and
the Teddy Bear.

The story is The Lonely Doll by Dare Wright and it is the original story in the
Lonely Doll series. There were about 10 stories in all. The original was
done in the late 1950's. I believe the last book in the series was done in
the late 1970's maybe early 1980's. (I can double check that info. if needed.
I have a complete set.) All of these stories were written and illustrated in
black and white photos by Dare Wright. In the stories the doll's name is Edith
and the bears are named Little Bear and Mr. Bear.

Hope this helps.
