As a Teachers Aide I know that School reading books generally have a ranking
system based on the frequency of certain words you could discuss this with
the school you are affiliated too, But as mentioned in a previous post
layout ,print size and Genre have a lot to do with it too.
I too suggest asking a librarian

Not "appropriate for various ages" but a fairly nice indication of
reading level is available from www.lexile.com (many school and public
libraries have lexile ratings for the books in their collections in
their computerized catalogs as an additional search term).
