Recently, some members of my family were talking about children's books, and
the nursery rhyme 'Hickory, Dickory, Dock' came up. My aunt says she
remembers having this book when she was little (1965-1970). The book was
roughly the size of a small Dr. Seuss book (hardcover). The cover had a
picture of a grandfather clock and a mouse on it (a 'real looking' picture,
not a cartoon). Here are the verses that she came up with. She thinks there
may be more.
Hickory, Dickory, Dock
The mouse ran up the clock
The clock struck one, the mouse ran down
Hickory, Dickory, Dock
Little Mousie blinked his eyes
And scratched his tiny ear.
The striking was such a shock
It made his head feel queer.
"I'm hungry now", said Mousie.
"I need a bite to eat".
So he tiptoed to the kitchen
To look for something sweet.
He twitched his nose from left to right
And then he started drooling.
For over on the windowsill,
A cherry tart was cooling.
The sill was just a leap away (PICTURE - Mousie w/ his face in the

Mousie jumped right on the tart
And stuck his face right in it.
The cherry juice came bubbling out (PICTURE - Mousie washing in
And stained his fur quite pink the sink)
So Mousie had to take a shower
Beneath the kitchen sink.
He scrubbed his paws and wiped his jaw
And cleaned his furry chin.
And as he shook the water off,
The old gray cat walked in.
"Hi, Mousie", said the old gray cat.
"Please don't run away.
For you know I love you dearly
And I only want to play."

And hit the frying pan.
Said Mousie, "It's a circus!
I've never had such fun.
But I hear footsteps coming
So it's time for me to run".
There may be other verses to this, but we don't know what they are. If you
can help me, please post your findings here or E-mail me a message.
Thanks.
