_Something BIG Has Been Here_
Poems by Jack Prelutsky
Prelutsky is also the author of the ALA Notable Book _The New Kid On The
Block_. This book has been translated to multimedia by Living Books. I
have this Living Books CD-ROM and my son like is a lot. Thus, I flipped
through _Something BIG Has Been Here_ when I saw it on the shelves in the
bookstore. It is 160 pages, maybe 100 to 120 poems. They are all aimed
at the hearts and humor of children. But rather than waste my time trying
to convey this, let me post one of the poems... (I would assume that under
the cicumstances of this review, Prelutsky and his publisher Greenwillow
would permit me this. I do not have prior permission...)
_My Sister Ate an Orange_
My sister ate an orange,
I'm astonished that she did,
she swallowed it completely,
she's a disconcerting kid.
My sister ate an orange,
first she chewed it for awhile,
then digested it entirely,
with a silly sort of smile.
My sister ate an orange,
it's a novel thing to do,
then she ate a yellow
and a purple and a blue
The accompanying drawing shows a young boy looking at his sister... She's
holding a box of partially consumed crayons.
