Her birthday was yesterday. She lives in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia.

She was nominated for the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 1974 and 1996.

Painter and illustrator Marlenka Stupica, who in more than seven decades of active creation with illustrations equipped more than 100 children's books and picture books, celebrates the honorable 90 years.

One of the most famous Slovenian illustrators was born Marlenka Muck on 17 December 1927 in Maribor. She studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. Since 1948 she has been working as a freelance artist. During this time, she often improved abroad. She devoted her artistic activity to the illustration of books and press for children and book design, the design of dolls and scenography designs.

In fairy tale, she followed the tradition of medieval tapestries and frescoes and folk creativity. With precise, cheerful and witty drawings, which are simply simple and understandable to the children, she created an opus on which the notion of fairytales of the so-called Ljubljana Illustrator School is based, and with which it has become established in the world.
