I will be traveling to Seattle in a few weeks and was looking for info on
local bonsai growers and suppliers.

any leads?

I am planning on going to the Pacific Rim Bonsai Collection already, but
am looking for a place that would be open between Christmas and new years
for buying some stuff.
thanks

I recommend Bonsai Northwest, owned and managed by Sharon Muth. It is
located near the SEATAC airport, 5021 S 144th Tukwila, WA,
(206)242-8244. Also, Mt. Si Bonsai is wonderful. Owned and managed by
David and Gretchen DeWire at 43321 SE Mt. Si Road (206) 888-0350, the
nursery is located in North Bend, WA, which is a half-hour drive due east
from Seattle.

Happy bonsai-ing.

Try Mount Sie (sp?). A couple of their better trees have been cover features
on Bonsai Today.

Try Bonsai Northwest (Sharon Muth) -- less than 5 minutes from SeaTac airport,
and has tools, pots, and trees. Very friendly people too, when I have been
there -- they helped me package stuff for carrying as baggage on the
airplane, and were generally nice.

I agree with Jean Floten on both suggestions. Bonsai NW probably has a
better selection of ancillary materials such as pots, wire, tools, etc.,
but both have a large amount of plant material. Also, try Kimura Nursery
in Redmond, not too far from Microsoft. They have in the past imported
some very nice trees from Japan - they are a little short on supplies,
though.

Good luck.
