aftercare procedures. Unfortunately it started to become infected last
night so i took it out before it got really infected. The swelling has
gone down completely, and there's no more pus. I think i probably
pierced it too deep. I'll probably try again sometime in the near
future, going a little more shallow this time.

you don't think you might have been over-reacting?
i mean, scrotum piercings have a tendency of being real runny, and being
hard healers. it could have been natural.
especially if you pierced deep. and when i think of "pus" comming from a
scrotum, i'm reminded of the "fluids" that erebli guy mentioned on bme
once or twice.
email if you want to talk more about the experience/technique/plans for
the future.
i've done this a few times myselfm, wouldn't mind hearing how you found
it.

Probably, but not only was it pussing, which i expected, but it had
gotten really swollen around where the ring was. And like i said, it was
deeper than i meant to make it, so i'll just do it over again in a week
or so. Maybe i should try to get some clamps, freehand isn't easy. ^_^
What i'd reallt like to do, but i know my fiance would never go for,
is to cover the entire scrotum with rings in a regular pattern, making
it look sort of chain mail. That's my pipe dream. Ah well.
The piercing wasn't bad, i've certainly experienced much worse (and i
do play piercings too, so i am used to sticking needles down there.) I
can't wait to try again.

where'd you get your needle(s)?
i've found some are sharp enough that they sorta slide through
accidentally:) (so what if i'm exagerating?)

yeah, no shit:) skindeep (or is it skin-deep) .com has them for a half
decent retail price. but it's been awhile since i looked around....
then there's the $2.00 nylon forceps... ...

I got the needle from my friend Ali, a professional piercer in CT. I
think the problem was how deep i went. I didn't realize just how deep
until last night in the shower. I was inspecting the marks left over and
realized i went pretty fuppin' far into the scrotum. Way deeper than is
a good idea for a basic hafada. Hell, maybe i should try a
trans-scrotal. (I do realize how extremely careful you need to be doing
that particular piercing.) My roommate thinks i'm nuts because i study
anatomy in my spare time.

bodmod site, look in my sig for the URL. I don't go very deep with
those. I'll have to try going deeper now that i've found that i can.

i'm all for people who have the brains to pierce themselves, even if you
do use bactine:P
it's annoying though, that some 14 year old girl is gonna read this
thread and get the dumb idea that she now knows how to pierce her hood.

Hey, bactine is a very good cleaner, so thbbbbbt! Besides, i usually
use antibacterial soap, its just a little hard to do that down there
unless you're in the shower, and i don't have the time to take three
showers a day. So Bactine it is. At least i'm not using neosporin or
bacitracin.

Well, that too. He thinks i'm nuts for lots of reasons, i just
mentioned anatomy because it was relevant at the time and he had been

Well, I just joined the recent self-done hafada group.
Tonight I did 2, 10ga scrotum piercings on my self. I've had a lorum
(pierced at 12ga, stretched to 6ga at this point) for about 4 years. In the
last week or so I've been kicking around the idea of doing more scrotum
work. And, strangely enough, I really wanted to do the piercings myself.
Although I love piercing other people, piercing myself isn't something that
I do often. It's not something that usually holds a lot of intrigue for me,
and I find that working on myself is often difficult from a logistical point
of view. The last thing I did on myself was a labret several years ago, but
it came out off-center so it only lasted about 10 minutes.
For whatever reason though, I really wanted to do these piercing myself. So,
tonight I brought home some jewelry and equipment from the shop and did the
piercing. I had intended to do 2 of them from the beginning. However, during
the marking process I decided to just do one of them. The marking wasn't as
difficult as I thought it would be. Actually finding a position to do the
piercing in was the hardest part. It was hard to get ahold of everything and
keep everything else out of the way. I finally was able to do it lying on my
bed with my legs hanging over the edge.
The piercing wasn't terribly uncomfortable and didn't take as long as I
thought it might. The jewelry insertion was easy enough. There was only very
minor bleeding. Once I was done I was quite satisified with the piercing and
very elated that I had done the piercing on myself. I was satisifed with one
piercing. Or was I....
I spent the next few hours on-line and doing various other computer-related
tasks. As I sat working, I kept thinking about the other ring and jewelry I
had and how nice another piercing would look. So, after some deliberation I
went to work again.
Getting the marking on the second one was more challenging. I started to get
frustrated at one point so I took a few mintues to collect myself and went
at it again. The dots went on right where I wanted them this time. I clamped
the area, making some minor adjustments. I tried the position I had used the
first time but this just wasn't comfortable. It took a bit of adjusting, but
I found a position, similar to the original position I used, that felt
better. I lined everything up, took some deep breaths and pushed.
Yeow! This one definitely stung a lot more and was more difficult of a
piercing. I didn't really check for vascularity of the area when making the
marks. It wasn't too much of a concern. I knew where I wanted the piercings;
the rest was inconsequential. When the needle was though, I knew in my had
that based upon the discomfort and the difficulty of pushing the needle
though, I had pierced through a reasonable sized vein.
When I sat up to look at the needle in my scrotum, my thoughts were
confirmed. A lovely red trickle of blood was working it's way down my
scrotum. I applied a little pressure simply to slow the bleeding so the
jewelry insertion would be easier (blood is slickery, ya know). After things
slowed a bit, I inserted the jewelry. This produced a bit more bleeding. So,
I applied some pressure until things were most stopped. I popped on the bead
and cleaned things up a bit.
As I sit here writing this I also just discoverd a nice little red spot on
my chair where the piercing started bleeding some more. At this point this
is a nice clot formed around the jewelry on the exit side of the piercing.
I'll most likely just leave it until morning. I imagine this piercing will
give me some bleeding off and on for the next few days.
All-in-all, doing these piercings on myself was a rather rewarding
experience. The technical part of it was not really an issue, as I've done
lots of scrotum piercing. But, they have always been on other people. It was
nice to have the desire to do the piercings myself, get myself into the
mindset I needed to be in, and go through with it.

isn't that annoying? a spot looks just right when you're standing, then
you sit down, or just lean the other direction, and you no longer like it.

i've experience that as well. during my first couple trials it resulted
in a piercing i wasn't happy with. i had to learn to sit back and relax.
impatience has no place when you're about to put a hole in your genitals.

i personally think any profesional piercer should experience piercing
themselves, a number of times, before being let loose on the public:)
_successfully_ piercing yourself requires a determined, confident mindset.
a piercer, imo, should have that same feeling when they're going to pierce
someone else. after having pierced myself a number of times it's easier
for me to call up that confidence, without waiting unitl i'm "in the
mood". i'm sure a piercer can learn to confidently pierce people without
practicing on themselves, but doing it to yourself reinforces.

Seriously, Benzalkonium chloride solution allows quite a few germs to
survive *and* to grow in it. Check deja for medline references, or check
medline itself.

As it turned out, I tagged a good-sized vein. I woke up a few hours after
falling asleep with a "lovely" wet, cold sticky feeling in my crotch. I was
hoping for a wet dream, but alas, it was blood. A good amount of it too. I
didn't really bleed much from my PA, amapallang or apadravya. This was
easily the most bleeding I've had with a piercing, well except for maybe the
dermalled conch piercing. Things seem to have settled down a bit now.
i'll teach you to turn away.

dammit. i`m so jealous... all this talk about self scrotum piercings, just
tried it myself. it refused to work... i`ll elaborate, i pierced with a 1.2
and tried an immediate stretch to 1.6mm. the first needle i didnt feel, the
third i felt. alot. not that i`m complaining, it wasn`t a *painfull* pain.
after the third time i gave up, to try another time.
like i said, it was spur of the moment, and lack of clamps really didnt help
matters. but i`ll try again...

On the topic of self-done hafada,I recently did my own after doing my frenum. There was no bleeding or pain, but it was hard to get the needle all the way through, I really had to push. I have been worrying I went too deep, any thoughts?
