Secondly, I've known a couple people who've been turned away for the
same reason and had success elsewhere, so there's hope, but then I'm not
looking at the tongue so perhaps there's not. And, sadly, they all
found success with a fellow who is on the wrong side of an ocean for
you. The best thing is to find someone else in your area who had the
same problem and found someone who can do it, or travel to find a real
pro on one of the coasts.

That's "Vein." And you are sure it is a blood vessel (the other type of
vessel is an artery) and not a shadow or your frenulum? Blood vessels
usually appear curved, squiggly blue lines that may protrude slightly from
the surface (underside of tongue) when you bend your tongue.

Not arguing with you, but you possibly explain this. Its peaked my
interest.

I as a Piercer dont recommend you to get your tongue pierced.
unfortunately not everyone can get everything they want I suggest you find
something else you want pierced and get that done instead. Your are
risking not only your speech but also your taste and there can also be
many
other consequences that are not very pleasant.
No, I'm not a body piercer, nor do I play one on TV.
However, I am a piercee. (Yes, I got my tongue pierced -- after two years
of agonizing, I had it done on Good Friday, when I had a long weekend in
which to recuperate) I would never try to talk anyone INTO getting any
piercing, but my experience contradicts the abovementioned thoughts. (I
DO NOT CLAIM TO SPEAK FOR EVERYONE, SO PLEASE DON'T SPAM...)
:Your are risking not only your speech
My friend Kate is in school to become a speech therapist, and she said the
same thing. Twenty-four hours after I had my piercing done, I worked a
seven hour shift answering phones. Yeah, there was a slight lisp, but
that was gone within a week.
:but also your taste
Mine hasn't been altered a bit
:and there can also be many other consequences that are not very pleasant.
Other than my mom's crying and a co-worker's not speaking to me (both
ladies have gotten over it), I suffered no ill consequences. Course, I
followed all the aftercare instructions.
And btw... I'm sure that this doesn't hold true for everyone, but I didn't
bleed a bit, even from the blood vessles under the tongue.
Just my side of the 2 cents piece

The medication that I'm takin' is making me insane
Actually Mr. Munez wrote me to explain that it wasn't that he doesn't
like tongue pierces, just the off center ones because you can put
tongue function at risk if you have to pierce off center....
I'll ask him to post his response to me....

From the original poster's description, I am not sure if it is indeed a
blood vessel (which are usually blue) or his frenulum (which can be red).
