I'm trying to get confirmation that Dragon Ball Z has now started in
Hawaii in subs. Since I trade someone there for that series I'd like to
know what episodes have been aired if it is on. Also, what other stuff
(live and animated) is on in Hawaii? I was getting Kitaro (until it went
off the air), Dragonball and Kidaider. Anything else I should be
getting? Also need the channel info and time(s). Thanks...

No, DBZ is not on of its own volition in Hawaii. The only piece of anime that
airs regularly is "Crayon Shinchan" on KHAI-21, Saturdays at 6:30pm. Kikaida
used to be run on a Pay-per-view channel, but the series recently ran to its
end, so it got stopped.

I hope it's good shit, 'cause I must be smoking it too. ^_^

Are you *SURE*? I have email from a friend, stating _explicitly_ that DBZ
is being shown, subtitled in english by Nippan Golden Network, just like
Original Dragonball before.

Interesting -- the anime density in Hawaii must be lower than I've heard.
'Course, I don't actually LIVE there (so I can't say which channel and what
time) and you do, but it might be on a pay channel like it is here ...

I'm afraid I must agree with the last post. DBZ DOES air in
hawaii. Although I moved from there about 6 months ago, I still
conmtact my friends there every week or so, and I know that DBZ
airs (or at least that's what they say). DB ended a few months
agao and DBZ just started. It's on once a week (sunday) at 6pm.
The episodes also repeat every Monday morning.

I just checked the week on NGN (That's NippOn Golden Network. :), and there was
no mention of DBZ on it. Now, I don't actually pay $$ for the monthly cable
guide, so it may not have started yet, may have just ended, etc. But, as far as
I know, it's NOT on. Just to make sure, is your friend IN Hawaii? ;)

BTW, that's KIKU-21 which Shinchan is on...forgot that it got bought out a
couple years ago...

On TV, yes. There's only 2 real Japanese language channels, NGN and KIKU, and
KIKU gravitates towards the live-action dramas like Hana No Ran and Abarenbo
Shogun, and has some speeciality shows, like Tsuiseki (cool show!). NGN has
shown anime before, but they seem to have stagnated over the past couple years.
For example, I saw the same movie on this week no less than 14 times...

Outside TV, though, anime's much bigger. Public schools are actually forming
their own clubs, there are quite a few anime & Japanese stores, etc. KIKU years
and years ago, back when it was a normal VHF channel, and hadn't gotten bought
out yet by KHNL (we're talking 70's here...) was Japanese-heim. :) Morning
line-ups were Rainbow Man, Kikaida, Kamen Rider V3, Candy Candy and Capt.
Harlock, all in a bunch. *sigh*...

Heh. Right now I kinda wish *I* was over there. But I do have
a friend living there, and he's nice enough to tape DBZ for me.
In fact, he's already sent me the first two episodes on tape, so
if anybody wants to see them, just drop me a line. It looks like
a really cool show.

Oh, and to clear up some confusion, I heard that DBZ wasn't on this
week due to New Years' programming. Hopefully NGN will get back to
the important stuff.
