HI All,

See my previous post for Friday's overview. Now onto Saturday...

Saturday was busy! Lots going on, though I can't say I know
exactly how much of it did happen. The registration line was HUGE.

About half way through the day, a revised con schedule came
in existance. It was current for about 30 minutes, an hour tops.
As far as I could tell, absolutely nothing started on time, except for
none con things.

Video Rooms. Well I finally discovered these, and in so discovered
the true strength of the con. There were 3 video rooms, all right next
to each other. While everything was running late, and out of schedule,
there was bound to be something on you wanted to see. I got to see Zenki
and though I didn't expect much, I was very very amused. :) One of the
rooms was showing the Robotech Perfect collection ( 2 espisodes subbed then
the same 2 dubbed). I also caught the first 10-15 minutes of Devil Hunter
Yohko 6. I left for the first Kitazume panel..

Kitazume Panel #1. Crazy was one word to describe it. It had
shifted time and location at least twice on Saturday. First it was
supposed to be at the Pioneer room at 3:30pm, according to Pioneer.
Then it was at Video room 3 at 5. At the last minute it was switched to
video room 1. Luckily they were all close together.
The Panel was semi-typical plug for Moldiver. Pioneer basically
came out and said that while they ackowledge Kitazume's other works they
only wanted to talk about Moldiver, and that the Second Panel tomorrow
would be for his other works. Oh well. The panel was fairly amusing,
especially the little bit about who he based the characters on. One
( I don't remember who) was based on Brooke Shields. Heh :)
After the panel, there was an autographing session. Everyone was
limited to just 1 item. Though I and a couple others jumped on to the line
again, for additional items. I was very happy since one of my main
points in attending was to get my two Bastard cells sign. MIssion
Accomplished :)

Mio Concert. I'm sorry to say that I wish I had gone to the
premiere to the latest Jacky CHan movie instead. I can feel the
flames coming on, but I make no apologies. I had seen Mio last year
and it absolutely rocked. But hearing the exact same concert, yes, same
songs, again was so-so. After that we were kinda forced ( IMHO) to
stay and watch Apollo Smile prances around on stage lip-syncing to
two of her songs while twirling around at first a hand-gun,then a katana.
It was rather silly. Supposedly the Jacky Chan movie really
kicked ass. Oh well supposedly New Line will be releasing it next
year, so I guess I'll see it then.

Ryo-oh-ki Party. After last year's Katsucon video room,,.. err
I mean party, I really didn't expect much. I figured the playstation
might get some action, then a video would come on, and we'd all
just kinda stare at it while shoving food into our mouths.
Glad I was wrong. Playstation didn't get any action, but we did
see the new Gianax series, Evangelion. The first episode was subbed
and the other 3 were untranslated. Now the key part of it was that
instead of turning the lights off and mindlessly watching the show,
Dave van Cleef left the lights on. Thanks Dave! Why? Because with the
lights on and the commercials in tact it gave people time to chatter.
Anime fans being social. What a concept ! :) :) :) :)
Everyone was very friendly, the whole thing was cool :) After the fourth
episode, I left to gather with the rest of the RSFA to grab some dinner
then head to the Ghost in the SHell premiere.

GHost in the Shell. The place was packed. Mostly because we were
waiting for the last show of Ace Ventura 2 to get out. I got to
listen in on an amusing conversation between Woodhead and Neil Nadelman.
Something about lawyers and " a bad settlement is better than a good
lawsuit." Later on Pockyman was tossing pocky into the crowd, then soon
followed up with " Attention everyone there is some bad pocky in the crowd"
routine :)
The theater itself was kinda older, but seated alot of
people. I sat behind the Manga Entertainment row on the right about
half back from the screen. The movie was.. well.. artsy. I wasn't much
in the mood to think as I had been dead tired. The music was nice,
as were the backgrounds. The char designes I didn't really care for,
prefering Shirow's own designes. The main character was was rather
unnerving since she blinked maybe twice in the whole movie. Overall
I was disappointed. It was way too short (an hour) and from what I
heard way too abbreviated. I'd like to watch it again with some
friends in somplace where we could talk about it as it played. Then
I might have some understanding of all that was going on.
The action was really nice, when there was some... most of the movie
was just the characters talking, and talking,.. and talking,.. and talking.
Supposedly very much like Patlabor 2 ( though I've never seen it).

After the movie, I felt rather disappointed. The majority of
the con had been less than spectacular, and I felt the need to
do something so I'd have fun. I wandered around and found Alaim, aka ILM
doing security for the Dance. We shot the breeze for a bit, when Joe
Chan,.. or Youshou to you mudders, asked me if I wanted to work security
for a bit. I now realized that AEast was very grossly understaffed.
They were also running around trying to figure out alcohol laws in NJ.
I agreed to watch over the dance with a few others. It was kinda
cool. I'm not much of dancers so I just kinda sat back, munched on a nacho
or two, and help clear the open beer bottles and glasses to one table.
The music was nice and loud, and people were having a good time.
Everyone was pretty cool, and at one point they ran the " Holding out
for a Hero" music video on the big screen. It had been the opening
ceremonies video last year, and I felt was kinda missed this year.
Also during this time, I heard a story or two about the on
stage antic of the Asian punk band Ten-Yen. Supposedly they were the
reason there was a min age for the dance of 17. The quote of the event
was " I wish I was that microphone." I was sorry I missed it :)

When the dance had ended, I headed back to my room.
Saw the pillow, and everything went black.
