the first half is only retrospect, the second half is really interesting,
that Rei and Shinji are so similiar in profile, for one, and EVA is
basically a unit w/ it own agenda. the first time EVA 0 is trying
to kill Gendou, the second time Rei, or Ritsuko, as she lament near
the end. which give hint that eva is a intelligent being which hate
its creator/pilot.

another interesting episode, fan service not withstanding, of course,
the bombshell is near the end, when Adam is revealed as the Angel #1.
combine w/ the closeness of Angel to human, we can ask, is Angel
a genetic engineering that went wrong? is Eva a cut down version of
Angel for better controlability?
and Rei's 'conditioning', is she cybrog? no, she bleeds and need time
to recover from wounds, is she 'made'? possible, why is she seems so
motherlike to Shinji in movements? why does she like Gendou? an impossible
to Shinji, but certainly not to Gendou's past wife! more are know in
episode #16, but we know that Yui die in a genetic engineering incident.
to me, the question is not asking if Rei is Shinji's sister, but is
Rei Shinji's mother? being made from genetic engineering also can
explain her aloneness, her attraction to Gendou, and her personal
characteristics. such as her indifferences to Shinji in #5, her
gladness for Shinji in #6,
in this one we also know more about Shinji, Misato, Ritsuko, and Ryoji,
Shinji's music practice, (he start to practice again, which means life is
near normal again for him) Ritsuko's love for Ryoji (always there but will
never be because of Misato), and the ambiguity of Misato. Asuka? she is
simply too advance for her age, and basically, experimenting in this
episode.

Shinji is meek, Shinji is week, so every so episodes we shall see
Shinji's, no the hidden power from Eva #1, which was released when Shinji
is near death. since Eva is man made, how much of Yui is in Eva #1?
everytime Eva #1 went berserk as if to protect her own child.
Shinji's final dream scape image simply confirms it.
consider that Eva was running w/o any power at all.
the energy probably come from the DNA introns which
also give Angel power. which give more hints that Angel is man made.
the final scene is quite touching, Misato act only as a mother could.
Rei shows emotion (angary at Asuka, and happyness w/ Shinji, and
even Asuka showed that she cares, and was embarrassed to be caught.
the preview for #17 certainly is interesting, if Toji is made #4
and pair w/ Asuka, then everyone is paired up.

found a clue in the "sketches" in the opening credits, which always
seem to portray the characters at a different age then they are in the
series, plus Shinji's remark that Rei looked like a mother to him.
I guess Eva is Gainax's version of "The Westing Game."

A lot of situations make this conclusion I think. Unless Rei Ayanami is
not a clone, it's certain that there are some relations between Rei &
Yui Ikari(Shinji's mother).

This Black Eva #3 looks like Eva 1st. So it's terrible when #3 goes

explain all.
But Eva. is now very interesting for me, so I'll pay a lot of money
for it and watch all episodes.

Eva Unit Zero and One must have some kind or some state of human
brain, but Unit Two and Three must not. So, I guess in Episode 18 (oh,
today) or 19, Eva Unit Two and Three will go wild and battle against
Unit Zero and One.
And, I wonder how Hikari is going to commit the main story.
She loves Touji, and...
I also wonder how Kensuke is going to. He seems to know much about
NERV. His father must be an important person in NERV (or Seele?)
