Okay, if I have this right, Usagi is an eighth-grader. That makes her
what, thirteen -> fourteen yrs. old? And all these guys out there are watching
it for the short skirts and panty shots (among other things), right? And most
of them are in college (at least the ones who post anyway) right?

Ummm...how do you say `pedophiles' in Japanese? ;->

Heh. And while you're at it, look at some of the supposed ages for those
Seiya boys.... ^_^

14-15 or so.

Lolicon... WAIT JUST A MINUTE!!!

I do *not* watch SM for the Sailor costumes. If anything, that was one
of the things that originally turned me off the show (I don't like
superhero shows).

(Then again, a couple of the youma aren't all that bad... @_@;;)

FWIW, the word you're looking for is "roricon" --> "Lolita complex."

I think it usually shows up more in relation to manga than anime, though...

It can't be for the trenchant critique of modern society that lurks at
the heart of every Sailor Moon episode...

Usagi (and the rest of the Sailor Senshi) are 14 years old. It's been
two years since the start of the series, and they're STILL 14 years
old... :-)

And, for the record, I prefer the girls when they're NOT in their
Sailor Senshi costumes. In fact, oddly enough, my favorite is the
temple outfits that Rei-chan wears a lot. I say oddly, since according
to your premise, that should be our least favorite outfits... :-)

Why *am* I trying to analyze this?? :-)

You don't with respect to 14 year olds... as I understand it, 14
is the age of consent in japan...
Anyway, if that was what they REALLY watched it for, they would just
watch cream lemon instead. heh.
