Lemon connotes freshness, youth, nubile visually
pre-pubescent...err. You get the picture. H_H;
H sounds like "etchi" which means pervert.

I confess my almost total ignorance of the Japanese language. That said,
I am curious as to why the word "lemon" recurs so often in hentai anime
and manga titles. I just assumed it was some sort of pun. Could someone
fill me in, please?

There's a series of anime called Cream Lemon which includes many of
different styles of anime but always involved around a rather young girl.
:) It's more like soft-porn - you know like those oldies back in 70's -
and as far as I know none of them has actual scene although later ones do
have scenes with censor mosaics. BTW, does anyone know the anti-censor
binocular that supposedly reduces the size of dot so tidy you can
practically see all there is to see. :)

According to Masamune Shiro in Intron Depot, Lemon in Japan is associated with
youth, hence magazines such as "Melty Lemon", which is not H as far as I know.
However, when a few H manga or anime came out involving younger people, they
started using the word in their titles too, and so the word started to be
associated with H stuff. I guess you could say its meaning has been tainted...
Not that I have anything against H manga, BTW! :-)

Yours informatively;

I always thought that "cream" was to signify beauty. So you
have "beautiful Mami" and "fresh beauty." ^_^

Maybe some of the releases would be considered lemons without the sex
in them? ^_^

(When I first heard about "Creamy Mami" you can guess what I thought
it was ^_^;;;)

(This is the first post to this newsgroup..)

I think that "creamy"/"cream" in "Creamy Mami"/"Cream Lemon"
is recognized as "soft","white" or "pretty" in Japan.(like ice-cream)
And "Lemon" is regarded "young"(not adult) in Japan,I think.

So,"Cream Lemon" was named from the meaning of "pretty young",from my thought.

Hey, I can't speak Japanese, so there's absolutely no criticism here.
This explanation makes a lot of sense.
