Ok, here's the deal. About ten years ago, there was a cable network
called SelectTv, and they had on it a Japanese Cartoon called
Thunderbirds 2086. We managed to record about 15 or so of the episodes,
and I just loved it as a kid. Now, no one I ever talk to has heard of
this show. I would be really appreciative if anyone could tell me where
I could get a hold of the other episodes, or just e-mail me and let me
know I'm not the only person on Earth to remember this cartoon. If
necessary, I could look at the credits and find the company, I can't
remember it offhand. Thanks in advance.

Though I can't be of any help in locating episodes. I can reassure that
I too saw the show and loved it. I watched early in the mornings on HBO
and Showtime. If you do get information on ANY episodes and were I can
find them please e-mail about getting copies.

Thanks

I saw it when I was 13 I think. It was my favorite show! It has
elements of drama and suspense and Class :)

The rescue attempts were awesome and very original :) I love
everything about it. Some of the episodes are still in my mind...

I never talked about this because everyone keeps mistaking this
for the Thunderbirds.

BTW, the episodes that I saw were dubbed, I assume that your
episodes were too, or am I wrong.

hmmm.... from what I know there is a rerun starting this Saturday
(6/25) in the morning... I have no Idea which channel nor the time but
I remember seeing a commercial while flipping channels... Yep... it is back
at least on California...

I wonder if they'll show a rerun of Macross... err... Robotech...

On a new but similar thread.. I also remember a show that I used to watch
RELIGIOUSLY(sp) when I was a kid. It involved I believe 5 people 1
female and they went all over the earth saving the day every week. The
only thing I can remember distinctly is that the aircraft they traveled
in would turn into a firey bird. I also believe that they had a secrett
base underwater. I even had a coloring book about them. Any ideas folks?

I think I saw that Same commercial on Fox. A show called the
Thunderbirds. THe add was running during The Mighty Morphin Power
Rangers (No, I don't watch this show, but It was after Batman!) Anyway,
I've never seen it. The only Japanese anime I remember was the G-Force
with that team with the Bird hats. ANyone know what I'm talking about?.
Anyway, I hope that helps. Maybe Bravo will play Robotech, I mean they
brought back Max Headroom, right? Amanda Pays... AHHHH!

Robotech is currently being showed at 7:30am EST ( I don't know if
they delay shows for different time zones ) on the Sci-Fi channel! I
have only watched the last two days of it, they are still in the First
Generation, but the SDF-1 and SDF-2 have not been destroyed yet, so the
Zen havent obliterated Earth yet. More precisely, I think it is during
the Zentraedi Uprisings! Better be hoping you have the channel!

Yeah, Sci Fi has been showing the Robotech Episodes for the past 6 or 7 months
n out some parts of the show, so it isn'tnecessarily great for taping.
I guess they feel the episodes are too long or something so they cut some
unnecessary scenes. So don't expect to get the perfect episodes.

I much preferred the Japanese original "Technovoyager" (yeah, I know the
Japanese pronounced it "Teknoboija" but that's the limitations of the
Japanese language) and the original puppet series "Thunderbirds" which
has made a big come-back over here (I can get the toys just about
anywhere these days).

Rob,

It is still played on Channel 2 in Puerto Rico 6:00 am Saturday mornings
(I don't know of any other times, maybe Sunday also?) dubbed in Spanish.

If you can deal with that, find someone who lives there -_^.

I've been seeign ads on Fox, too. They're for the original Thunderbirds
show, which is a rather old Gary Anderson live-action "Supermarionation"
(i.e., puppets) show.
Some people like Thunderbirds, some hate it. I know a guy who has the
entire series on LD.

I wouldn't mind at least looking at the Fox show, but I'm sad because
I never saw what MST3k did with the show.
As for owning it on LD, yes, I'll admit that I paid $4.88 for the
Stingray LD at my local Camelot on the discount rack. I've only watched
the first 15 minutes of it, but the dramatic cheesiness of the show had
me laughing helplessly. ^_^ I guess if you like cheesy movies, you may
get a kick out of this show.

Fox is broadcasting the Supermarination (ie: Gary Anderson) Thunderbirds at
9:30 ET Saturdays starting this Saturday (EEK was moved to 8:30 bumping MMPR
[which has been preempted by OJ during the week]). My TV Guide seems to
think that this is an Updated Version of the 60's show and not the 60's show
itself. I'll have to wait to see (the clips seem to be from the old show so
far as I can see).

Excuse me but I believe Thunderbirds 2086 refers to the anime
series that was originally called Techno-Police 2086 and aired
in the Us around the 1987-88. There is the other Thunderbirds,
the puppet one.

I'm gonna say this again... The Thunderbirds 2086 I remember was
not this Super-marionation. This Techno police sounds like it is
probably what Im talking about. A big shuttle, a big rocket, a big tank
and a submarine. Were they both called TB 2086? I know the one I saw
was absoluetly Thunderbirds 2086, because I rented it not less than 4 or
5 months ago from Blockbuster.

Here's an idea--what if TB 2086 is an animated version of Thunderbirds Puppets
that took place in the future? There are parallels, for example both feature an
organization called International Rescue, and both have ships named Thunderbird
with a number. If it was anime, either the Japanese animators who created
decided to created an animated series that had some of the features of that
puppet show and improved upon them, or when it was ported to the U.S., they
decided that it should be almost treated as a sequel to that puppet show.
Either way, it's a HUGE improvement over the original puppet thunderbirds.
