SPOILERS GALORE!!! DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN UP TO EP. 24!!!!

Haven't seen much in the way of discussion on Evangelion eps. 21-24...
I wonder if people just haven't seen them yet, or if this is more of a
stunned silence ^_^ It certainly gets confusing and disturbing, and thus
difficult to talk about. Here's some observations, opinions, and questions
to (maybe!) get a thread started.

-Adam and Lilith: Looks like Second Impact was really caused by human
meddling of some sort with the first Angel, Lilith (the wife of Adam
before Eve according to Jewish folklore!), which is the thing in Terminal
Dogma that used to be called Adam. As a result of the disturbance to Lilith,
the real Adam (glowing giant that looks like an Eva) shows up and anihilates
itself and Antarctica. But what exactly did humanity do to incur the wrath
of heaven? And what the hell was the Adam back in eps. 8 (the embryo, which
Gendou call "the first Human")???

-Gendou: He's a cold, heartless bastard, that's for sure. But what does
he want - just to save humanity from a Third Impact, or something more?
It seems that Evae may have been created first as New Gods, and only later used
to destroy Angels. Did Gendou hope to create a paradise on Earth by making
a God in Ikari Yui's image?

-Rei: There are many Reis, but only one has a soul. So how did she survive
Unit 00's self-destruction? Did they just do a personality transfer to one of
the Dummy-Plug clones? I doubt it, because a) "the soul is not digitizable"
and b) that would be far too awful, yet hokey at the same time. Maybe her
survival has something to do with the fact that she's pretty clearly an
Angel @_@ And is it just me, or does Rei get more and more attractive as she
gets creepier and creepier? ^_^ Damn that Ritsuko for destroying the clones!
Then again, none of them had souls - they'd probably act like Usagi (S.M.) -_^

Well, I better quit before I slip completely into fanboy mode ^_^ Any
opinions?

So all we can say is that the embryo is somekind of version of Adam.
However, my question is what the world is that embryo doing, only
showing up in one episode? Also, what in the world is that Spear
doing, and how does it become a limiting factor for Gendou's plan that
he's so eager to get rid of it?

And a follow up question: What's the Second Angel?

Well, its hard to say if Gendou is obsessed or really fXXX-uped. He
seems to be always cold and calculating, but "obsessive" could be the
only description for him when it comes to Yui/Rei. Won't surprise me
if somehow he got involved with the Final Plan just because he can't
confront the fact of losing Yui (which might explains why he's so calm
at his wife's grave - he believe in his own ability to restore his
wife!) Talk about a helpless man living in hisown world...

Well, first I wonder exactly what was recovered from the plug of Unit
00 that Ritsuko told everyone to keep quiet. Also, I think the
personality transfer is not quite possible because I think the Dummy
plug only has the basic animal instinct rather than a complete
personality. Also, its worth to note that Rei-02 died in the
explosion, but Rei-03 has the ability to extend AT field just like an
Angel. So its hard other than to suspect that the 16th Angel might
have given Rei a soul, or simply fused with her... explaining why she
has a continuation of a "soul".

And, face it, where have you seen a main female character who could be
mom-lover-bionic enhanced human all at the same time (well... maybe
except in Bounty Dog, but that's another story) So is the only sane
female character in the whole Eva series Maya?

I love it personally. It doesn't really matter if they don't
answer all the mysteries yet, (obviously they want the movie to sell)
I have as much fun guessing with my other Eva fan/friends. ^_^

This part is so weird. According to my Japanese friend he mentioned
that Seele got hold of Lilith and Nerv got Adam after the second impact.
I can only wonder about that. Nerv made Eva-00 out of what they see in
Adam, and I think that they then built Eva-01 out of Adam itself, that's why
it is capable of so much more than the other units. (Also why Adam is not in
the central dogma)

According to legend also, Lilitm left Adam, and three angels were sent
to bring her back. I wonder if anything relates to taht.

[Don't want to talk about Gendo, he ain't cute. :]

>-Rei: There are many Reis, but only one has a soul. So how did she survive
>Unit 00's self-destruction?

There's a scene where the Nerv crew were salvaging the descruction
site and Ritsuko saw something inside the entry plug and said that everything
from now on is top secret. From what I decipher she must have saw the remains
of Rei and transplanted her brain/thoughts on to another "doll". She died
once before hand by Akagi, so Rei mentioned that she think she is "the third
one" at the end of the episode.

>And is it just me, or does Rei get more and more attractive as she
>gets creepier and creepier? ^_^

I thought it's the other way around? She's kind of show more and more
emotion in time. (like that tiny bit every two episodes :)

Having one of those Rei's giggling in the middle of the night is
pretty damn daunting. ^^; Though I'll probably be the first to pre-order
if Ritsuko didn't destory them. ^o^

Still thinking of an Eva page...
