There's a great FAQ that you'd probably find helpful. I tried Googling
it but got a 404 at the only link I found. Does anyone here know where
it can be found?

Flat white to start with - it WILL be your friend! Add Future (yes, the
floor polish) for the shiny overcoat.... After that, how involved do you
want to be? You can brush paint (and spending your money on the brushes
*will* make a differnece, as well as learning to clean them,) spray paint,
airbrush, use paint pen/markers....
