Hey guys,

Stupid thread/question of the year most likely, but it's only stupid if I
don't ask it.

Can one mix Mr. Color with another type of paint, ie. Tamiya? Or is that a
major no-no?

Given that Tamiya is an acrylic, and Mr. Color is a laquer, I don't know
what the result would be. Would it work or not?

I'm 90% sure that it wouldn't work, since Mr. Color is a solvent-based lacquer, and Tamiya is a water-based acrylic.

However, I believe that the Tamiya spray cans are lacquer based, so you *might* have some luck there.

[Lacquer Based Acrylic]
Tamiya TS sprays
Gunze Mr. Color
Gunze Mr. Color Spray
Gunze Color Set (Gundam Colors, Eva Colors, Aura Battler Colors, etc)

[Water Based Acrylic]
Tamiya Color
Gunze Aqueous Hobby Color

Simply, the same kind can be mixed, but different ones don't.

You can mix some automotive lacquers with Mr Color, but the selection
of automotive lacquers that makes sense for mech modeling is pretty
limited.

Couldn't you get yellow and black and mix them to get olive green...?

I thought they were alcohol-based (only water *soluable*.)
