Another Kitty Media Review

Hi all. The second release from Kitty Media (which has nothing to do with
the Japanese company Kitty) has hit my local comic book store, and having a
free rental coming I checked it out. ADVANCER TINA is, well... tenticals.
There's the possiblitly for some interesting storylines and character
relationships, but they chuck all that away for girls exploding :) Just
like their previous release, Rei Lan: Orchid Emblem, this one is censored.
Which brings up the main point of this review. Just for the fun of it I
went to the Kitty web page (http://www.kittymedia.com ). There in the new
releases section were 'UNENSORED [sic] - Directors Cut' versions of these
two films. Basicly the same films with the digital fog removed. Sounds like
a good idea, right? Give the fans what they wanted in the first place.
But, this is the problem. Those who bought the original versions didn't
KNOW they were censored. I know this is the falt of the Japanese studio who
sent Kitty the fogged print, but that dosen't change the fact that the
product that was shipped was, well, to use a computer term, buggy. These
new tapes are basicly bug fixes, and I'd assume that the original versions
would be allowed to go out of print. Fine for future consumers, but what
about those who've already bought the videos? Do they have to shell out
another $30 to get what they thought they were buying originaly?
I have a proposal for Kitty. Take a page from software companies and allow
viewers to upgrade. Have them send in their censored copies of Tina and Rei
Lan (0r even just the cardboard case), along with maybe $10-15, and send
them the new versions. Yes, this will cost you money in the short term. But
the goodwill you generate will more than make up for that. Plus, relativly
few consumers will know of the deal ^_^ Actualy, the nice way to do it
would be to include a coupon in the new tapes saying that if you send back
the originals, they'll get $10 off their next Kitty purchace. That way fans
are happy, and they have incentive to buy more of your titles.
What do you say?

Hi Chris,
Due to all the requests from both stores and viewers, we may a really big
effort to get the uncensored versions on our first two videos. When we
finally got them, coming from a software background had already thought of
having an upgrade policy. The retailers and distributors were not sure if
that was the best way to handle it. In anycase I will be making some kind
of policy soon so people can upgrade their copies of Orchid Emblem and Tina
to the uncensored versions. I also feel this is the right way to handle
the situation.
You will also be surprised as I am when you see the uncensored versions of
these programs. I really though Orchid Emblem would be the more explicit
of the two titles. Advancer Tina though passes it up in alot of ways for
sexual explicit stuff when they have the close up shots. I was somewhat
shocked...
But we give the adult fans what they want and there will be more...but keep
and eye out for our non-adult stuff and the beginning of our Live Action
line.

I can imagine. Tina was bad enough as it was, and at least most of Orchid
Emblem was 'normal' :)

If that is your criteria, check out Ogenki Clinic, recently released by
them. All consensual (medical tratment oriented even), and VERY funny.
One of the few hentai classics.
Although the episodes seem to be out of order. shrug.

I think Ogenki Clinic is gonna be right up your alley. Actually, given
the nature of the untranslated OC I've seen, I wonder if I should really
use that expression. I hope they keep that up; tentacle porn may still be
going pretty strong in Japan (then again, it may not; I don't know), but
we've had a gutful of it here in Gaijinland and I, for one, am looking for
more laughs, romance and/or drama with our animated subatomic particles.

I think Ogenki Clinic is a hentai classic which makes it past the hentai
crowd. It is the funniest video I have seen in along time. I am not the
biggest fan of hentai videos but this one is a keeper and I release the
stuff.

Same here. Not a huge hentai fan, but some titles are just plain fun
regardless.

Ahh... thanks for clearing that up. Glad to see there was an actual
reason. All too often it seems stuff like this happens due to sheer lack
of caring. But you certinly seemed to have a good track record over at
software sculptors and seem to be continuing it at your new home.

I agree. I am tired of the tentaticle stuff but the video stores are not.
It seems that ever since URdoji, they feel this is what the people want in
hentai video. We are trying to diverse the type of adult videos and will
continue to do so in the future.

Any chance you'll be able to bring "I Give My All", "1+2=Paradise"
"Alice", or "Bodyjack" then? Or even "The Sensualist", if you want
to release high-brow adult anime?

Yes, The Sensualist is a very good title. It is the more artistic kind
of adult anime and has a story to tell. Which such title you would
surely get good (or better) review.
