So Kaname's plan worked well - Zero turned into a super vampire killer and
was able to destroy Lido with ease.
BTW - maybe it was his name, but I difficulty accepting Lido as a serious
danger for anyone. To me, "Lido" sounds like it should be the name of a male
hairdresser from Newport Beach.
With his revenge complete, Kaname prepared to leave the school forever.
Vampire Princess Yuuki met with Zero one last time. Zero refused to accept
Yuuki as a vampire unless she drank his blood, so in a very effective scene
Yuuki bit Zero's neck and drank his blood, but without any enthusiasm and
with tears running down her face. Zero reminded Yuuki of her promise to kill
him when he became a vampire, and then told her that he would some day have
to kill her now that she was a vampire. Yuuki promised that they would
someday meet again, and that Zero should wait for her.
Then Yuuki packed her suitcase and surprised Kaname who was getting ready to
leave by himself. Kaname told Yuuki not to come because she had an important
person to protect at the school, but Yuuki replied that she had a different
important person - Kaname - to protect and that she would go with him
wherever he went. So they left together, along with a few of the other
vampire students who were the most loyal to Kaname, regardless of how Kaname
had used them in the past.
And in one of the most subtly powerful scenes in an episode full of powerful
scenes, Cross caught up with Yuuki and Kaname. After acting silly again for
a moment, Cross resumed his serious Vampire Hunter King persona and formally
entrusted Yuuki's well-being to Kaname, who accepted the responsibility with
equal seriousness. So everyone walked out into the sunrise to begin their
futures.
