Does that really count, considering she's really only two years older than

Well, so far Tenchi takes the lead with 20,000 years (Washuu). I'm not sure
about the others - does cold-sleep or being imprisoned in a cave count? Or
should we take the median age of the harem?

Tenchi Muyo, OAV.

Heck, even Mihoshi is older than he is (26 to his 17). Heck,
chronologically, SASAMI's older than he is thanks to
crygenic suspension. It's a younger man / older woman
smorgesboard.

El Hazard, OAV

20,000 years. What can I say?

Oh My Goddess

Bell-chan is SUPPOSED to be only slightly older than
Keiichi. She's also supposed to be an immortal goddess.
I have trouble reconciling those two facts.

I generally don't count Sasami's suspended animation deal as making
her functionally older. And Washuu's deal tends to become moot...

Given the benefit of the doubt to AMG's weird time spans for heaven
(where time seems to move differently), Keichii and Bell are pretty
close in age.

How old IS Mizuho-sensei in Onegai, anyway?

Depends on who you ask. I personally don't think an age difference of
one or two years matters that much. I would consider myself dating
someone who is younger/older if they were four or more years older or
younger than I am. However I know some women who would consider two
years to be a big difference if the guy was younger. Hell I know some
women who would say they were dating a younger guy if he was six
months younger than they were.

It really depends by whay you mean by older. There are several
anime were the girl-woman is slightly older than the boy-man like CCS
and KOR. There are a few were the woman is a few years older like
Maison Ikoku and Onegai Teacher and a few were the woman in
technically much older due to magic or technology like El-Hazard or
Tenchi Muyo. However, there is no manga or anime I know of were the
woman is more than a few years older than the man. Something that
might please you as the manga Dance to Tommorrow, available in English
from VIZ. The woman and the man are about the same age but tha woman
is more worldly than the man.

Actually yes, and that little difference is functional to the plot:
initially there is a big social distance between the two: he's more like a
brat, and she's an older widow. But the difference is not so huge that he
can't at least hope. Bear in mind that it's Japan in the eighties, not
America (or any other western nation as well) today. If you don't count
this, it's simply impossible to follow the real story.
It's also worth notice that Takahashi-sensei was intentionally describing
the more traditional Japan: both Kyoko's and Godai's friends seem having
much more modern views than them.

I've always gone with the idea of "serial immortality", also know as
"reincarnation". It explains why none of the megami look like they do

Snip

_Clamp Campus Detectives_. Our 12 year old hero has
an adult woman who stalks him, abducts him, and tries
to take advantage of him. _Here Is Greenwood_ has
a similiar event. Ten-chan, Urusei Yatsura, is pre-school
age and often becomes infatuated with adult women.

Taro of Hanaukyo Maids is a very young man with
a trio of adult women who try to seduce him as team;
his own interest is in Mariel, and to a lesser extent in
the security chief, both of whom are adult women.

Devadasy: a teenager is seduced by a female doctor
when he visits the infirmary; learning about sex without
learning about romance is a contributing factor in his
subsequent rape of his same-age girlfriend.

Shiori-sensei of Mahoromatic; the epilogue shows her
still dating teenage boys well into her 40's.

Ryoko is around 2000. Washu and half of Sasami/Tsunami were probably
around before the Big Bang. (Washu has been masquerading as a mortal
for 20,000 years. I should be so mortal!) Aeka is over 700, and forget
the deep sleep bit, her brother, mother and father who weren't in deep
sleep didn't age noticeably either. Mihoshi may be rather old too
since one chart I saw (not official of course.) implied there were
only a few generations between her and Washu's son born 20K years ago.
Descent from a Goddess could do that. In fact Aeka may be the only one
who's not an immortal and she's probably good for several millenia.

Hmmm. That would mean the average age is meaningless since two of them
may well predate the existence of time as we know it. Using what would
be quantifiable, let's see... two times approximately thirteen and a
half billion plus 2000 plus......

Right after, I believe.
But as I said to Dave, I was being a bit facetious. ^_^

Though in their ages (late teens/20), 2 years is still significant,
especially if one is a widow and the other not yet in college,
because they've just left "kid-hood" and thus doesn't have
much experience beyond that, so any difference in experience
is magnified (kinda like a number can be small
yet make up a large percentage of a whole).

Yeah, "Maison Ikkuko" is good, though she's only two years older.
"Onegai Twins" is pretty good too.

Hmmm, I guess by anime standards that is a younger guy and
an older woman.

How in the blue hell can a goddess have a regular age? I would
think she would be hundreds of years old. Ahhh well I can't

Has anyone mentioned Rick & Lisa from Macross/Robotech? Or was she
really that much older than him?

And this probably doesn't really count, since it was never
consummated, but there was Shinji and Misato...

Here's a list of H/ecchi shows that I can think of off the top of my
head:

Kodomo no Jikan -- (H) Three 10-ish yo boys molest a highschool girl
repeatedly.

Words Worth -- (H) I want to say that the blond chick is older than the
main char, but I can't remember for sure.

Aishimai/Immoral Sisters -- (H) The mother is older than the main guy,
and the blond chick might also be older.

Himegoto - (H) Female teacher + highschool or juniorhigh boy.

I think quite a few H shows that have this kind of "fetish" (or whatever
you'd call it) in it, perhaps even "most", so I'll just stop listing
things. :P

Was this established in the Manga, or is it just a creation of the
anime continuity? I'd prefer the characters be older.

Anime- I'd go with RahXephon so far, (haven't seen Onegai, a couple
others) and though haven't seen latter half, the tension is pretty
obvious, and seems well-handled.

Manga- I go directly to Please Save My Earth, no real alternatives.
But then, I really enjoy the weirdness of the whole setup of the
story...

You think time travel/semi-relativistic effects screw with
relationships? Shoujo + Reincarnation can make things *much*
weirder...

For toy RC cars, the ones they have there now are okay, but it's
just not the same. Plus there are whole areas of Mars that they
can't put rovers or probes, because they're not flat and smooth
enough. So don't look for pictures from the rim of Valles Marineris
anytime soon (probably not even my lifetime -_-)

Privatize space exploration, that's the only way it'll make it
long-term. Short-term, militarize it.

If Japan didn't have to spend all that money on the anti
Godzilla weapons they probably could have built a city
of Mars by now. I mean they built two Mechagodzilla's
already. Yes, there are 3 Mechagodzilla's but the first
one was built by the fearsome space monkies.

Actually, if they don't screw up the math and can get them

rovers seem to work ok. Heck, they can ever do computer

Then you're just talking about the manga, aren't you? I think it rocks,
and, honest to Urd, actually bought all the comics of it that Dark Horse
released. Took forever for Deep #4 to reach here for some reason, though,
so it's a good thing I was able to get the scans of that one to tide me
over until the real thing turned. Shame that NeWMen quit doing manga
after that, though; according to Dark Horse, he now does illustrations for
stories in magazines (like Tohru Nishimaki of Blue Eyes fame also does).

No, that's healthy competition. I mean the petty rivalries over who
gets to sit in the shiny seats and tell all of us what to do, and take
our money to do it.

5 minute? Last I heard it takes roughly 15 minutes for radio to go
from Earth to Mars. Speed of light 'n all.

It depends; Earth and Mars can be as close as 60 million miles,
or as far as 240 million miles, depending on where they are in
their respective orbits.

299,792,458 m/s, or 186,282.397 mi/s in English measurement--in a vacuum

Ah, yes, I did not take that into account. I'm just so used to the
time length of 15 minutes being thrown around by varying pundits.

Radio is essentially radiation which is essentally a different wave
length of another of the same radiation which we call light. *nod*

Mars shouldn't be too far now because
that's the reason they planned the missions for this time
when Mars is near at its closest to Earth
(saves on time and fuel).

I couldn't find Sealand on the CIA's World Factbook, so it seems the US does
not recognize it. Either that, or the guys at the CIA can't stop laughing
long enough to rev it in.

Not to my understanding - if is was, /boy/ did they miss the mark ^^;
OTOH, though, I do find grief/insecurity/fear/despair/etc. look good
on a boy, so if anybody would find that kind of scene sexy it would
probably be somebody like me. So it surprises me a bit that it does
nothing for me.
