A lonnggg time ago someone was asking for places to find Anime in Montreal.
I finally found my old file and it was badly in need of an update. Well
here it is:

updated Sept 1, 1996

This is a list of shops in Montreal that sell anime products. I put this
together and any additions would be welcome.

COSMIX : 931 Decaire, St. Laurent
This comic shop carries the commercially subbed and dubbed video
tapes and even some laser disks. You could order any video that
they do not have in stock. Also they have the occasional anime
book and magazines and of course the translated comics and anime
magazines.

Librairie Nebula : 1832 Ste. Catherine West, Montreal
This Science Fiction bookstore has a number of books on anime as
well as anime books and magazines. They also sell a wide selection
of English manga and manga style comics and anime magazines.

Valet D'Couer : 4408 St. Denis, Montreal
This games store carries the commercial subbed/dubbed videos and
has a few shelfs of manga and anime books as well as model kits
and some garage kits.

Sci-Fi Anime : 5686-A Monkland, N.D.G.
This comic/anime store has a good selection of model kits and a
few other anime products as well as a few videos. It has the
largest selection of Anime tapes for rent I have seen in this
city so far (except for Chinese tapes from Chinatown).

CHINA TOWN : China Town is a source of anime in just about any city.
NOTE: If you are looking for Sailor Moon or even Dragon Ball
(Z) products then you are in luck here. Every shop in China
that has Anime products carries these (almost exclusively).
The only other anime subjects in any quanity are Ranma 1/2
and Slam Dunk.

LOVER'S MUSIC WORLD : 1008 Clark Street
This is the only store I have seen that has the Japanese
cds and especially the J-Pop cds in any quantity. It also
has a large selection of Chinese and Chinese translated
Manga as well as the Chinese Anime magazines.

ALSO at 1008 Clark Street
There is a boutique that has a few Anime items, mainly Sailor
Moon.

TIN TIN MAGAZINES : 66 La Gauchetiere West, Suite 102
(downstairs and turn left)
It has Dragon Ball (Z) cards and a selection of the Chinese
translation Manga. It also has some other cards (Sailor Moon,
Street Fight) too.

Agency General Kong Wah : 85 La Gaucheyiere Ouest (upstairs)
This book store has a 'scattering' and various Chinese manga.

Tien Hua Librairie : 1112a Boul. St. Laurent (upstairs and left)
This bookstore has the biggest selection and manga (Chinese) I
found in this city. They have they for sale or rent. They also
have a good number of anime CDs and some tapes(mainly SM brand).
They also have a large selection anime type products such as
posters, cards, sationary, stickers, and at one time even
Sailor Moon perfume as well as model and figure(garage) kits.
They also can order stuff but some deliveries can be iffy.
Additionally I find they have some very reasonable prices too.

KWONG HOI : 99 Viger West G19-G24 (Holiday Inn Concourse)
A large selection of Anime products, mostly Sailor Moon and
Dragon Ball Z but other items (like Ranma 1/2) cam be found.
It has quite a number of Japanese cards and some vidoes and
SM brand cds. Also there are clothing (mainly T-shirts and
sweatshirts) as well as bags and even watches.

WAH FUNG : 1013 ST. Laurent
One of the few places that rents LDs as well as videos.
It also has some Anime products, mainly cards, mostly
Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z.

BENLAND : 984 Clark
It has mostly Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z items. These
consist of sticker cards (Chinese copies of the Japanese
cards which are stickers and prism style) and some stationary
and posters and a set of glasses.

Well, that is it for this draft and I may mention that Inaus Publications
(Protoculture Addicts, Mecha Press ect.) is also based in Montreal.

I welcome any updates or additions to this list as well as places to get
anime and manga products in the rest of Canada especially mail order and
fan-subtitlers.
