I'll give a quick review. I'm not the original poster, but my copy arrived
early from RightStuf, so I've watched it already.

case.....>

Lately, I've been watching a lot of Fan Service HaremŽ anime: Heaven's Lost
Property, Rosario + Vampire, etc. I watched the initial episode of Cat
Planet Cuties on Funimation.com and figured this was along the same lines,
so I purchased the collection.
This starts out as a typical Fan Service HaremŽ - nerdy guy meets hot alien
cat-girl while meddling childhood girl friend gets angry, teacher is
surprised, quiet girl who loves him is disappointed, etc. - but then turns
that on its head. Meddling childhood girl friend turns out to be working
for the CIA, teacher is part of a first contact with aliens underground
organization, the shy girl is an dangerous assasin, etc. Meanwhile, the cat
girl's crewmates show up, and procede to get all kinds of naked.
So - this show basically plays like Tenchi Muyo meets Agent Aika in Noir's
backyard - with catgirls. (Najica Blitz Tactics might be another good
reference point.) I found it very enjoyable - although it has just about
every harem anime stereotype in the book, it changes them up enough to keep
it interesting for me.
One technical note - according to the back of the box, the blu-ray is HD and
not upsampled SD, like Heaven's Lost Property. The quality on the discs is
good - nothing overtly wrong, although I didn't look specifically for
technical issues - and my pre-order came with a small art-book. The discs
contain all 12 episodes plus the bonus OVA.
In summary - if you're a fan of Fan Service HaremŽ anime, you'll probably
enjoy this. Not super original, but there's enough twisting of the genre to
keep it fresh. I definitely wouldn't mind watching future episodes of this.
NOTE: This show was previously released under the name "Bombshells from the
sky". The actual title of the show is "Asobi ni iku yo!" - which translates
to "Let's Go Play!" according to Wikipedia. I'm not sure how Asobi ni iku
yo! turns into either Bombshells From The Sky or Cat Planet Cuties - but
there you go.
Cheers,
Paul
