By all accounts, all that got cut out was the more explicit parts of a
scene involving child molestation. And even li'l-old-anti-censorship me
can't fault 'em for that.

Uh, no, Uemetsu had nothing to do with the Cool Devices series, but he's done
character designs for Megazone 23 Pt.2, New Gatchaman, Casshan, and RC's
"Presence".

Well, I don't know.. I think they used his designs... and the

You would only have needed to catch a glimpse of the LD jacket, which
says something like "Yasuomi Umetsu presents" on the front. I've seen
the Cool Devices LDs show up at several cons; I don't think those
dealers are ever going to unload 'em.
I haven't seen the Cool Devices episode he did the character designs
for (character designs only--I don't think he directed), but the girl
on the cover looks almost exactly like Sawa from Kite.

Uemetsu did do the character designs for cool devices vol. 4. not to
mention the key animations of one of my fave anime "kodomo no omocha."
he did do the character designs for cool devices 4.

I sort of see it as Taxi Driver meets The Professional (and I don't
mean the anime...). And I love Taxi Driver too. And I thought the
main character, her background and situation, to be totally
compelling. I think there's a lot of inherent power to the
combination of innocence and the lack thereof, and this anime pulls it
off well.

It's "kite" as in the things you fly on a string. The title flashes
briefly at the beginning in katakana.

sake of my collection). I'm not much of one for porn, but Umetsu's character
designs are just too good to pass up. It's a shame that more Japanese character
designers aren't as technically proficient as Umetsu..., I mean, there are a few
(eg. Kawajiri, Kitazume, Miyazaki, Amemiya, Yasuhiko, Mikimoto, Matsumoto, etc.),
but not as many as I'd like. Anybody else have any additions? Forgive me if this
question is to "subjective" for some... Please, don't include Terasawa - he
bothers me ;)
