Cartoon Network UK just advertised that they would be showing new episodes
of DragonBall Z, to be shown for the first time on the rather dark-looking
'CNX' - a new channel.
<crosses fingers> Is it too much to hope that this is a channel of
Toonami-esque stuff? That maybe we might get some of the shows from Adult
Swim?
If nothing else, we're probably looking at an action-show based channel...
so theres some hope there, at some point... ^_^

Possible--
At one point they were thinking of a US all-Toonami channel, but then,
that was back when they were thinking of a Boomerang channel, too...You
know what happened to that idea. (And if you don't, you DON'T.)
Since they don't want to break up CN-UK's mix with a truckload of action
exports, they're probably thinking of shuffling the Toonami, ASAnime,
and even a few ASComedy off to their own channel-space--
So it won't be a total loss, and they can test out which aspect they
want to hyper-market over here for the future.

Hm... a promising sign, at least- Boomerang has been on air as a station
over here for about a year / a year and a half... so this may indeed be the
Toonami chanel we've been praying for, especially since the name 'CNX' is
the name of the Toonami news webpage. I wonder of the success of Sci-Fi's
anime block stung them into action?
Turner Broadcasting is launching a new channel in the United Kingdom on October
14.
The new channel, named CNX (yeah, CNX), is a 24-hour network aimed towards the
18-34 male demographic with programming ranging from martial arts to sports to
thrillers to animation as well as original UK-made programming. UK insiders
report that IPC Media, publisher of Loaded (kind of like Maxim here in the
States), is going to provide material from their various publications. CNX will
be seen in households covered by NTL, Telewest and Sky Digital.

PPGWorld.com - http://www.ppgworld.com (fun for Powerpuff fans)
Omnimation - http://omnimation.keenspace.com (for fans of twisted humor, here's
my comic!)
Either someone has crossed wires (the news having come down the line from
several sources), or my grip on reality is slacker than usual...
Um... little help?
Now it makes a little more sense- checking round the net reminds me of the
fact that Warner -bought- Turner Entertainment. So... CNX -is- to be a
Warner station, in effect. Showing... all manner of stuff. Hmm.
On the plus side, the idents and stuff for the channel look all very cool,
and Turners drama tend to be good, but I can't help feel a little
dissapointed- I was hoping for Toonami and we seem to be getting an
alternative to Bravo... Well, the animation is a good sign at least.
I guess I'll have to wait and see if the chanel is any good or not...

Aren't Turner and Warner part of the AOL-TW conglomerate?
So why can't they cross-advertise?
Laters. =)

Yes, yes they are. I'd forgotten about that. <feels foolish>
What had really confused me, though, was advertising what is claimed to be a
'Lads channel' on Cartoon Network- the demographics didn't seem to fit.
Having poked around, though, it seems that the channel might well end up
being a strange sort of Toonami/Adult Swim - TBS Superstation - whatever
else sort of mix, which hopefully won't be quite the alternative to Bravo
that Digital Spy are touting it as. Definatly all the station trailers (all
DBZ so far, and a sort of mechanical looking 'x' for the logo), and the
channel that's showing them (Cartoon Network) imply something more 'geekish'
than 'laddish'.
Have to wait until mid-October to say for sure, I guess...

There's a lot of competition and antagonism between the various
divisions of the company.
- Dragon Ball Z
- Gundam Wing
- Tenchi Muyo!
So looks like they're limited a little. But I guess they could go Scifi UK and
buy more.
- Outlaw Star
- Cowboy Bebop
And for some reason, even though it's an action channel, they're airing Space
Ghost Coast to Coast and advertising it as "thriller."
Also Spawn is airing on it.

<Scary> Oooooooooooooooo </scary>
... it has a "ghost" in it, so it MUST be a thriller. ;)
