In Slayers v. 4, Lina mentions in passing that she has a big sister. Is
this ever followed up on? Do we ever see any of her family? She left
home pretty early (travelling with Naga at age 14). That suggests
domestic turmoil. Or maybe they just couldn't afford to feed her and
apprenticed her to a wizard.

Cable, to me, is the Race Bannon of the Marvel Universe. He's a good man,
a brave man, who believes in things, but usually winds up wrestling an
alligator in the process. -Mike Smith

*** SPOILER SLAVE!! ***

Lina's sister, Luna Inverse, is the Seafead Kight and probably the
strongest human being on the Earth (Lina is nothing comparing
with her) but remains her Zepheria to work as a waitress.
Lina suffered from kind of inferior complex to her sister and
that is the reason why she started to learn the sorcery.
Luna never makes proper appearance in the series, except for
a few unclear shots (eye catcher in a late epsiode of
Slayers and OP of Next etc). Lina's departure from home
is, IIRC, nothing to do with domestic turmoil; simply her
sister told her to go out to widen her view.

BTW, the reason Lina lives in mortal fear of her sister (or so I have
been told) is that a young Lina decided to make some money by broadcasting
a pay per view broadcast (she projected it over the entire town) of Luna
bathing. Luna, in retribution, 3/5ths kills Lina.

When the Dragons come to Luna in Slayers Try, she sends them on to Lina, because
her waitressing job was too important.

Lina once states that if you didn't know magic in Zepheria, you would be
dead at age 5.

Ah yes, Luna Inverse.

Allthough her existance has been hinted to in both Slayers Next and
Try (This really scary purple haired girl who gives Lina the shivers)
she has yet to show up.

In Slayers Try she sends a letter to Lina, which has an interesting effect ;-)

The Secret about Luna?
She is Cepheed's Night (The Dragon that sealed Shabradugu). She also works
as a waitress (She can kill a dragon using a carving knife). Next funny thing
about Luna? Xellos was created to look like her ;-)

The early rumours about Slayers _AGAIN_ (not Lost Universe) are that she
will show up at the end of the series.

Hmm....I've heard a rather different account of events based on the novels
(though not having read them myself I can't say this is first-hand). Supposedly
Lina comes from a village where _everyone_ is a super-strong magic user: Lina
was actually the weakest of the bunch! Being also the most mischevious, there
was apparently an episode where Lina pulled a prank that amounted to televising
her sister taking a bath, which resulted in her sister getting pissed and
leaving Lina mostly dead. After that, Lina fled the village, and has been
plying her craft ever since. Not that any of that made it into the anime as
such... Slayers TRY is especially hilarious about Lina's lingering fear of her
sister, and her sister gets a brief cameo in the opening credits with a
"Sorry Credits Only" sign =)

Mind you, but the end of Slayers TRY, I _have_ to think that the power
disparity between the two has been repaired or even tilted in Lina's favor:
she's acquired so much magic from sources vast and mystical that it's almost
certain that she's got to be more of a match for her sister. Keeping her in
fear is probably good for the comedy value though. =)

Her sister's name is Luna, and she is mentioned in the OP of Slayers Next.
AFAIK.

Nope it was Luna. Notice that she is riding a dragon (Luna is a

As a side note: I've heard a rumor that Dughir(sp?) wandered into Luna and
is now her pet doggy.

I read all the novels available as bunko-bon and the info above
is from there. Of course, it is only correct if I remember correct ^_^;;

> Supposedly Lina comes from a village where _everyone_ is a

I seem to recall all the people in the village are super-strong
but not necessarily with magic power.

Lina's broadcasting Luna's bathing is (again *IIRC* ^_^;;) only
one of many things Lina did to her sister and she had received
immediate retaliation. So it was not *the reason* for to leave
the village.

Yes, Dilghir has become Luna's dog and called Spot. He appears
in one eye-catcher of Slayers NEXT (wasn't it?) with Luna. Also
this is mentioned in the drama CD, Slayers EX Vol.4.
(Cf. http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Bay/7427/slayers_ex4.html).
