The R2 DVD has a red tint (or "Terminator vision," as some have called it)
all the way throughout it. Since this disc sold three million copies in
Japan, quite a lot of people were pissed off with this (and rightly so).
Studio Ghibli have said that the tint is to optimize the disc for liquid
crystal and plasma video displays (which doesn't help the yay-million
people with standard cathode ray tubes) and that they find nothing wrong
with it. Smells like red herring to me.
