The site was bought out a few years ago by a group that decided to turn
it into a magazine. People didn't *want* a magazine. People left...

With the rise of blogs, and the mainstream saturation of anime, the
Personal Series-devoted Fansite seems to have gone the way of the 90's--
It was easy to make a website when a series was a fansub-only cult
unknown, but there aren't too many of those nowadays. :(
That, and think the original AniPike was bought out by some larger web
company, and lost all the charm--Now it's a "magazine" site, and not up
to the level of AnimeNewsNetwork.com.
However, the Trixie Turnpike icons are still archived:

I still have one of those Trixie Turnpike links to
the Turnpike on my old Home of the Relic site:
http://www.angelfire.com/anime2/homeoftherelic/index.htm
Of course, I haven't done anything to the site in a long time,
and being Angelfire, you may get a popup or two (my Firefox blocks
those, though). If you don't want to go, it's
the Sailor Moon Trixie ^_^.
I occasionally pop into the Turnpike every few years to see what's
happening (I used to have a link to the Images section of my site
listed there), but, nah. If I'm interested in finding out about a
particular series (and I haven't heard about it here), I go to ANN
or Rumic World.
Ah, the 90's!

What happened then? :-)

Sad really when you realized you're not the only one!

Sad it as gone that way, I had many a fun time on that back in '96
when I was just starting out.

We lost Geocities.
Derek Janssen (and with it, the Loser Bargain Micro-Fansite)

Nope, I was just making a silly joke about the 90's, but thanks for
the answer!
Similarly, what happened to the Anime Venice Archive?
