I saw this on the preview booklet of what's gonna be at the San Diego
ComicCon...
But, I didn't believe it at first...
So, I check the webpage...

"Naoko Takeuchi ð While the name may not be familiar to n on-anime fans, her
creations are wildly popular in America, with her best known work seen in this
country as Sailor Moon."

I'm not a big fan of Sailor Moon and all...
But, I'm really impressed they got her instead of some anime convention...
One would think she'd show up at an anime convention...
Yes, she's a manga artist. So, she's a comic artist.
But, I think she'd fit more into an anime con.
I'm surprised the ANIME CON just about a month before and a bit north of the
SanDiego ComicCon didn't get her as a guest.

Oh,well...
just some observations...
Still gonna go to the anime con just bit north of the SanDiego ComicCon though

Remember, SDCC has had manga guests for many years inlcuding Buichi Terasawa
and most notably, Rumiko Takahashi. SDCC is much more prestigious than all
anime cons put together, especially in the eyes of many manga artists, and
it draws 25,000+ people for the 4 days....

just another observation...

Not to mention that Mixxzine are sponsoring her visit. After all, that's
what Viz did when Ms. Takahashi visited SDCC...

I thought last year, SDCC even reached 40,000 people?

Anyhow, check this out (on the top of the page too):

SAILOR MOON CREATOR APPEARANCE HIGLIGHTS ANIME PROGRAM

Anime fans are going to think they've died and gone to Anime heaven when
the see the fantastic things planned for the 1998 Comic-Con
International Anime screenings. This year, two rooms at the San Diego
Convention Center will be screening Japanese Animation programs
during the four days of Comic-Con. Also in the evenings, additional rooms
at the Convention Center will be screening Japanese Animation
programs as well. Heck, this isn't so much a convention as it is a
celluloid marathon! The Japanese Animation staff will be contacting and
working with the various U.S. companies to show their variety of subtitled
and dubbed Japanese Animation programs. This includes screening
their newest releases, especially premiers, as well as fan favorites. The
Japanese Animation staff will also be working on a separate Japanese
Animation Guide, which will contain schedules of what programs are showing
in which rooms, and synopses of certain programs. This all
dovetails very nicely with the attendance of Takeuchi Naoko, creator of
the wildly popular Sailor Moon cartoon series. Special programming will
be developed around the appearance of Ms. Naoko, some of which will detail
the origins of the character and it's development from a single,
masked girl wearing a traditional Japanese schoolgirl's uniform, to the
supergroup we all know and love today.
