Hey all, for all of you Abh-loving fans out there, I'm hoping you
could help me out. I've seen Crest of the Stars, and read what happens
in Banner of the Stars up until the Basroil is destroyed, but I'm just
a sap for the nascent love relationship between Jinto and Lafiel. Call
me a softy, but I'm curious--does anything ever develop?

I'd appreciate the input.

Thanks,
Z

No knowledge, but here's my idea for it:

Lafiel: My society would frown upon it, Jinto,
but I want to bear your child!

Jinto: You, you mean...

Lafiel: No, I don't love you that way.
Here, roll up your sleeve...
Now, goodbye. I'll always think of you.

If you've seen Crest through to the end, the answer should be pretty
obvious.

(spoilers)

They're very clearly in love by the end of Banner II. They don't
actually get physically intimate, but Lafiel cries when reunited with
Jinto at the end of Banner II (in front of others, no less) even
though she's not supposed to show emotion as a member of the royal
family. Jinto shares some romantic thoughts with Lafiel when they are
reunited.

Banner II ends with Lafiel taking a leave of absence from the Star
Forces to be with Jinto (Jinto has to go back to take care of business
at his home planet), and Jinto telling her he'd always be happy with
her with him. It ends with some romantic imagary.

So while they don't actually kiss, they're clearly aware that the two
of them are sharing mutual love, and the series ends on a feelgood
note.

Hmm, very interesting--a blatant love relationship always seemed a
little unplausible to me. I'm glad the series ends on a good note and
the characters remain true to themselves.

Thanks for the input all :o)
