This Friday, I will be posting another Project-Ako 2 clip and the opening
for the Hakkenden. They will be posted here:

ftp.safeword.com /download/chris

To make room for them I will have to remove the Akira movie trailor and the
Project A-ko 2 ending credits clip. I've noticed that some of you lost
your connections before you were able to finish downloading. Make sure
you turn on hash marks ( If you're using a command line ftp ) before you
try to download. These clips can take a long time to download and my ftp
server will drop you if it doesn't see any activity. If you still have
problems, email me and I will try to push the requested clip to your
machine.

The next two clips will be:

You're Under Arrest (Opening)
You're Under Arrest (Ending)

Good luck.

I don't think AnimEigo will appreciate that. They have publicly stated
that they prefer that people not distribute digital video clips of their
licensed titles.

I think they might appreciate that. People don't usually buy things
unless they're able to see what they're getting. I only digitize
opening/ending themes, movie trailors, and freebies found at the end of
LDs. Any story content is passed by. AnimEigo is a great company and I
would do nothing to damage them in any way. They are losing no revenue
by my distributing the above mentioned clips. In fact they're getting
free publicity. If someone from AnimEigo calls me up and requests that I
stop, I suppose I will out of respect. But they would only be harming
themselves.

I always thought that video tape have higher resolution and higher frame rate
than dinky quicktime clips anyway. So why bother?

You're sorta right. It depends on the source the quicktime movie was
captured from. My capture board is capable of grabbing 30 frames per
second at 640x480 resolution without dropping any frames. The typical US
format TV has a vertical resolution of less than 400 with a frame rate of
24fps. If you were to capture video from a SVHS camera you could make a
quicktime movie with picture quality comparable to HDTV (and HDTV is analog).

Most quicktime movies you find on the net are recorded at 30fps but are
saved at only 15fps. Also the resolution tends to be less than 320x240.
Quicktime movies are fun to collect and they give you a good idea of what
you're planning to buy via mail order.

Hence, it is worse than VHS ~_~

Hmm, for instance, if said quicktimes only contain the title sequences, it is
really hard to judge how good a title is by some flashy title sequence. Most
title sequences tell nothing of the storyline.

Yes. That is what I said.

By the title sequence you can determine the genre (giant robot, magical
girls, comedy, etc...), style of animation ( I don't care for the retro
"Speed Racer" look of the characters in "Kishin Heidan"), and the type
of music you can expect to hear. Depending on the opening sequence, you
can even get the premise.
