Personally, I'm just dismayed by what's developed in the last
48 hours. I've had to recreate a new account for myself on the
WebBoard just now, as my earlier one was either tampered with from the
source or deleted altogether.

It would seem that Stuart Levy isn't willing to entertain
legitimate honest questions about the direction of his company from
his customer base.

I tried expressing them directly and explicitly in vivid
detail... many of the same issues which were brought up over and over
again by many of you on the WebBoard and elsewhere online because I
felt that you deserved some answers and that it would help clear the
air of uncertainty for many of you.

Give you the confidence in Mixx and the company that so many of
you once had... which I think we'd all like to have again because we
all want to see many of these great manga titles have a chance to
thrive in North America.

Not a single one of them were answered directly.

Not a single one...

I brought out Sailor Poptart to express those questions in a
language that Mixx would understand and enjoy because they've been so
receptive towards it from the likes of Erica and Kathy. I even sent
those revised queries in E-Mail... their preferred medium of
communication.

Still nothing... not a single straight answer that would
benefit Mixx in the long run.

What can I say? I've tried all I could think of. I'm still a
Mixxzine subscriber. I haven't told anyone to stop buying from what
will likely be great Mixx Pocket Manga collections. I haven't
advocated petitions or boycotts.

Stuart, I've simply tried to clear up all of the concerns of
your readerbase mainly because I feel my past efforts have contributed
to some of them giving your little company a chance. A few of them
told me as much themselves... what could I say?

They trusted my judgment and my promotion and felt they
deserved some reassurance and some details to explain what's been
going on... and where their investment now stands. I figured I owed
them that opportunity.

Unfortunately, it would seem that no answers are forthcoming to
any of those twenty questions and that you'd prefer to leave your
subscribers, advertisers, and all of your many readers who've endorsed
and supported your product in the past in the dark. I've also just
been informed that Sara Jenkins has also had her account deleted from
your WebBoard... and there might be many more on top of that.

It would seem that Mr. Levy feels that those questions don't
deserve answers... and that Mr. Yi takes it personally when a
concerned customer asks him a simple question like 'why is it that
there is now 35% less manga in Mixxzine' is passed his way.

Well, that decision is certainly your prerogative. Your
customers will just have to remain content without their answers and
judge your product at its face value and draw their own conclusions
with their wallet as to whether or not Mixx or Smile! or your Sailor
Moon comic or your Pocket Manga line (which I'm still planning on
supporting) provides sufficient value for their hard-earned money.

I'd like to take this time to offer my personal apologies to
Adam at Earthlink and anyone else whom I may have helped urge to
support Mixx in the past through my endorsements and who are now also
upset or regretful about their decision due to the new direction of
Mixxzine, the transition of Sailor Moon to Smile!, the handling of
the great Naoko Takeuchi at ComicCon, or any other present concerns
with the company which are not likely to be addressed.

I'm deeply sorry and hope that this will not reflect poorly on
my judgment in any other recommendations or testimonials I may make
down the road.

For those of you who are still content with what Mixx has
provided you despite recent developments, then I hope you'll have
continued enjoyment from your investment and Mixx as a company down
the road.

Thank you for your time.

I'm most disappointed in Mr. Levy and Mixx.
What I find most distressing is the fact that they
are not doing the two things EVERY company has
to do to be successful:
1) Listen to the customer.
2) Respond to questions by the customer.
<Unnoficially 3) Don't screw your customer!>

I don't see how anyone can subscribe to one of their
mags knowing what kind of crap they've pulled on their
customers already! Do you know how long it takes
to regain a reputation for good customer service once
it's been tainted? Months? No way. Years? Uh-uh.
Decades? Maybe. Never? Most of the time.
Well, this is the first time I've spoken about this subject
and it will be the last. As far as I'm concerned Mixx
is "out of site, out of mind."

So the author of "Sailor Poptart" is finally revealed! Great job, Brad.

Due to the increasing resources needed to moderate this web
board, it was deemed in the best interest of the company to take
it down indefinitely. It is like the party illustration that I put up
before. A small number of people have abused their invitation.
Hopefully, someday, this web board will be put back up. When
this occurs, we will announce it on our web site. For now, its time
to turn out the lights. This party is over.

This is it Mixx has shut down the webboard to squelch public outcries of
censorship and policies detrimental to the series and manga that many have come to
love

I have voiced my concerns on the now defunct webboard about the futility of
the petition. Basically, I stated that Stu would ignore in just like he has
ignored all of the other complains. I then went on to suggested that
instead of a petition to Mixx itself, they should organized a letter
campaign to Mixx's advertisers and sponsors detailing why they will no
longer support Mixxzine. Stu may ignore the complains, but the advertisers
won't.

Disabling the chat rooms and taking off the webboard. Wonderful public
relations skills. It's pretty obvious that Stuart Levy had Andrew disable
everything - and calling Brad's and Arshes' posts spam to justify recent
actions is plain ridiculous. Their criticism was impersonal and
constructive, and now Mixx is even less likely to receive needed feedback.
That's fine. The posts that they found so threatening on the Mixx board can
just be made available to a larger group of people on the newsgroups. The
only word I can use for their actions at this time is pathetic. I supported
Mixx when they first began selling their products, and I am very
disappointed with the way things have turned out.

Neither will the retailers and traders.

As a comics and manga trader, I have gotten repeated requests for Sailor
Moon items. When Mixxzine first came out, I attempted to contact them
direct and buy from them wholesale, but after wading my way through their
pretentious website and sending them an email requesting wholesale
information, I recieved no reply.

Once Cold Cut Distribution picked up Mixxzine, I put it on my list of items
to stock up when I had extra money in the budget.

After hearing all of this about the recent changes in Mixxzine management
and the changes in publishing policy at that company, and ESPECIALLY tothat
company's conduct as regards the web forum, I have decided that the only
way I will buy Mixxzine will be through buying out the collections of
individual comics readers. I will not order through my distributor nor will
I order direct from Mixxzine any item, not even the pocket-mangas. Through
their total committment to avoiding customer support and to muzzling or
ignoring criticism of their business dealings, they have cost themselves at
least one possible venue through which their products could reach the
general public.

I wholeheartedly support the boycott of Mixxzine and all Mixx Entertainment
products. No matter how much good this publisher might have done for anime
in the United States, its recent actions and callous treatment of the
reading public show beyond a doubt that the only thing Mixx Entertainment's
current management is interested in is wringing the maximum amount of cash
from what it percieves as a captive audience.

It is a hard thing to ask, for fans of Sailor Moon, Rayearth, and those
series promised by Mixx Entertainment to come in the future, but for the
good of the industry, and for the good of the mangas we love, Mixx
Entertainment must either change its ways or perish. The only way either
will happen is for the readers of Mixx books to STOP BUYING THEM. Only by
showing the company that its practices are bad for its bottom line can we,
the traders, retailers, and consumers, force them to change those
practices.

A company which breaks promises, attempts to mislead its customers, and
refuses even to address the concerns of those customers cannot help but be
a curse, not a blessing, on the American manga market.

Personally I thought he had a few good points on that page. Perhaps
you should listen to your customers more. If Sailor Moon is to be
removed from MIXX then I shall no longer buy it. Sure the other
stories are interesting but I don't buy it for them.

Now that sounds like it might work. It certainly seems like it's
worth a try... Anybody have a list of the advertisers and sponsers
and their addresses?
