Actually, it is the truth. In the rush to get it out at the expected
time, they were unable to add in a subquest to revive Aerith. Whether it
is to be excluded in the U.S. version remains to be seen. I do believe
you are overreacting, however, and you can't discount her return in some
way in a sequel (even if it is merely a conversational reference).

I hate to bring it you your attention, I have finished FFVII and
although it was rather easy, I enjoyed it. The story however does not
seem to be incomplete. I understand Japanese completely and the
reasoning for Aerith's death is so that she becomes "one with the
planet". If you read the section where Tifa and Cloud are together on
the Highwind, Cloud points out that "maybe there is something out there
that is saying good job" or something like that. That something happens
to be Aerith. Also, most Japanese anime have people who die and don't
come back (Guld in Macross Plus, half of the character in X, Gundam
Char's Counter attack, etc.). This is nothing new which explains the
lack of complaints from in the Japanese newsgroups. If you disagree
please bring me proof. BTW, the story about the finished FMV but
unfinished code is BS. I have checked it out from certain friends of
mine who work at Squaresoft Japan and they assure me that there was
nothing left out. The only thing that I can find to substatiate the
story is that the pointer finger that appears when you hit select while
walking around was not implemented in the church.Give me more proof!!

What you say here is very valid, and yet I just want to explain. I've
been friends with Ben Lansing for quite a while, and he has brought up
some valid points. First things first, assuming it was removed, why
would Square still burn the other two endings onto the CD? But let's
forget that, and go into a few details. You know how Aerith's ghost
flickers and dissapears on Disc 3? Do you think that the way it
dissapears, or is even there, is intentional? It simply dissapears. It
does not fade out in any way whatsoever. And having known Lansing much
before he told us this, I fully believe him. He was limited until March
30 by his working for Square from legally telling us, so before he left
he tried to get the method and found this. I won't go into what, but he
had fully detailed the other two endings to me (They're very short, with
one just continuing into the regular ending) and that there was yet more
that was removed. Use the Gameshark, and you'll find strangely several
portraits. But even stranger is the fact that if you use the Gameshark
to get Aerith in your party after her death, she has her own dialog.
Think Square just made dialog for her later in the game for anyone who
used the Game Shark? I think not.

Pop in the disc 2 and wait for the main menu. Change to disc 1 and after that
select the new game button. If u do it right, the intro will be death scene of
Aerith and some FMV will be missing. People said Cloud will block Seph sword and
Aerith won't die then in the final scene of disc 1.
Of couse this is rumour only. I guess ppl swapped too much and they still swap
even with the mod chip :> The plot of ff7 is linear and Aerith must die in disc
1 and I believe Squaresoft had plan to ress her in disc 2. And that is why In my
walkthru,tThere are 17 pink/independent Materia and one of them is "Breath in
Water". If time is available, why not add this ress plot in the game. Just think
about how many ppl who bought the import will buy this game again if the plot is
added...

Actually, the dialogue she has when you use the GS apparently
consists only of things she can say before she dies.

And this isn't rumor? She actually has her own dialogue?
Okaaaay, I am not fully convinced until I buy it and see for myself,
but,..
Either they were being very evil and created rumors intentionally, or
Aerith truly _WAS_ to join the party...

! It is...what do you think of Square's PSX deal now? Huh?
Yes, you are the same people. Get over it. Leo died, She died.
Square kills off a few 'good' guys in most games. Tellah's daughter
in FF2us, Leo in FF3 US, Aerith in FF7. Face it. Square _Always_
kills off a good guy. If you have a problem with the 'Original'
'True' Japanese version then you can go fuck yourself, Because
I Want FF7 To be exactly the same game here in the US. I don't
want the plot 'toned down' or changed. I just want it in english.
That is the only change I find acceptable.

It's false.
All the proof for this are false.
Before believing such a thing, wait for someone who has good proofs of it.
I promised to never believe the 'bullshit' said in this newsgroup, and so
I thouht like you. Then I've said it, a lot of people told me it was true,
so I finished believing it. But now, I've regained my mind : IT IS NOT TRUE.

There is no proof, so you're right it's probably some nintendo fanatic
who wants to destroy Square's reputation because Square decided to
release FF VII on the PSX.
